DALLAS—Treehouse, the Dallas editorial boutique, has expanded its services through the hiring of motion graphics designer Jeff Vick and the addition of a new graphics design and production suite. The company will offer graphics both in tandem with editing and finishing, and as a standalone service.

LOS ANGELES— Richard de Aragüés, one of the UK’s most dynamic, young commercial directors, has joined Original for exclusive representation in the United States. After beginning his career as a documentary filmmaker, Aragüés has built an impressive advertising career in Europe centering on automotive, sports and other types of action storytelling. His latest work includes a European campaign for Land Rover documenting a record-breaking crossing of the “Empty Quarter” in the Arabian Peninsula. Other credits include work for BMW, Nikon, Mercedes and Samsung.


Gawker issues defense of trolling Coke, misses irony

In case you didn't hear, Gawker trapped Coca-Cola into tweeting phrases from Mein Kampf. to culture jam Coke's #makeithappy campaign. Because god forbid Twitter show any signs of happiness at this point. When outrage ensued over this dick move, Gawker doubled down on the dickishness with this amazingly tone-deaf defense.

The article, which I won't link, is entitled Brands Are Not Your Friends. It starts with the question "When was the last time Coca-Cola did anything nice for you?"

Gawker traps Coca Cola into tweeting phrases from "Mein Kampf"

Coca Cola ran the happiest super bowl spot this year. In between the cute pre-bowl puppies and the dead kids, it was a beacon of light of a rather somber super bowl. It showed how a bottle of Coke spilled over the internet, internet harassment turned into smiley faces, cyber bullying to cyber compliments. It was as I called it, an updated version of "I'd like to teach the world to sing". Wouldn't it be nice if we were all a little nicer to each other?
