In the wake of the really ill-conceived Titstare app presentation at Techcrunch, which in my humble opinion sullied Techcrunch's brand more than anything else, emotions were running high in the small twittersphere-bubble that is made up of prominent bloggers, journalists and high-profile women in tech. In a bubble like this it was only a matter of time before somebody was going to get hurt.

Jason Grilli throws a perfect social media fast ball

That's how it's done. Jason Grilli, pitcher for the Pittsburgh Pirates, just showed how easy it is to engage with fans on and off line with this tweet. It seems as if this promo is in partnership with the MLB's official uniform provider, Majestic On Field.

1888 is the Instagram hotel - stay for free if you have 10K followers

The 1888 hotel in Sydney, so named after the Kodak launched their first box&roll camera, has an interesting way of promoting itself. If you have over 10,000 Instagram followers you can stay one night for free. So says the rules on their own Instagram page which shows off that the hotel is pretty from all angles.

iPhone 5c spoof - looks just like crocs.

Pretty much everyone who watched the keynote that announced the iPhone 5c thought of colorful plastic shoes when they saw it. Including the digital department of PKP BBDO from Vienna, Austria (pkp-bbdo.at) who dashed out on lunch and shot this spoof-ad.

People involved, Florian Kozak, Philipp Bayerl, Paul Horvath, Max Jürschik, Andreas Potzmann, Andreas Mahringer. Various co-workers and several crocs.

AT&T delete Sept 11 tweet after being bombarded with upset replies for an hour

Brands, be careful. People have asked "what, too soon?" as joke-punchline for years now, but when it comes to shilling with images of the WTC in NYC, it's always too soon. Attempting to acknowledge todays anniversary of the Sept 11 attack, AT&T ran the tweet above. Depicting a hand holding a smartphone, which in turn depicted the WTC memorial, the image came off as shilling smartphones rather than paying respects. After being bombarded with upset replies, AT&T wised up and tweeted this;

Save the Date: Big or Small Save Them All Musicfest Sept. 14

Join jumP, Poetica and Heard City (Team JumPetica) on Saturday, September 14th for an all-day music festival featuring Blues Hall of Famer Jerry Dugger and six other incredible bands. The Big or Small Save Them All Musicfest is the centerpiece of a mammoth fundraising effort by the 11-member team for October’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. Admission to the event, which will run from 2 to 7:30 p.m.
