Illuminati Taps Mother New York as Agency of Record
Great news from Mother New York who just won another prestigious client. I'll just quote the entire release;
"April 1, 2013- After nearly 237 years with their current agency, The Illuminati has named Mother New York its new agency of record. Creative duties for the account shifted after a pitch that included five undisclosed agencies.
To date, The Illuminati brand has followed a subtle advertising strategy that has included teasers on US currency, branded partnerships with world leaders and other non-traditional campaigns.
While some close followers have recognized the work, awareness has remained low according to The Illuminati, with less than 2% of the population acknowledging the organizationʼs efforts, despite the nearly $200 billion the group spends in annual media.
Artists to TBWA Chiat Day and American Eagle: Screw You
As you'll recall, American Eagle and Ghost Beach worked with TBWA to create Artists Vs. Artists: an "edgy," campaign that asked people to take a stand on music piracy. Wink wink.
Well, this just got sent to our inbox.
GARTNER Welcomes Director Terry Rietta
Bicoastal production company GARTNER is pleased to welcome award-winning director Terry Rietta to its roster. The signing represents the company’s ongoing commitment to offering agency clients and brands cutting-edge filmmaking and production talent across the traditional and digital advertising landscape.
The Brand Equality Social Experiment is over. What did we learn?
Just a few days after it launched, the Brand Equality Tumblr site is done with its "social experiment." Which, by the way, was a phrase I wish never entered our lexicon. It sounds like another way of saying "psychologically messing with your minds." Semantics, right? Perhaps Humpty Dumpty was right in saying "When I use a word, it means whatever I choose it to mean. Neither more nor less." But when I hear "Social Experiment," I think of manipulation. Which is what I hate most about this career.
What Vampire Weekend taught us about brand loyalty
Over at Pitchfork comes an article that Saab owners are in a tizzy because of a new video and promo shots featuring a Saab 900 on fire.
Sorry. That should be former Saab owners, since the cars were sold to the band's production company for the video. But once a Saab owner always a Saab owner.
Sony Playstation’s MLB 13: The Show - reinvent the baseball card on Vine
Looks like MLB The Show are one of the first to use Vine as an advertising media space, by creating special animations of baseball plays for their favorite "baseball influencers" as well as fans of the show. They're like animated baseball cards.
MLB The Show is currently releasing video baseball cards utilizing Vine, which is the first of its kind.
They surprised a number of individuals on Twitter with their own custom created baseball card, which features a game version of themselves sporting their favorite team. The list included a wide range of gaming and baseball influencers as well as huge advocates of MLB The Show.
Air Serv partners with Feed My Starving Children
You ever stop at a gas station and see those air pumps and you're like, wait, why does it cost 75 cents for air when a mechanic would do this for free? Seems as if one air providin' company is using some of the money for good.
I've never seen one of these in L.A. but I'm traveling for work and I spotted this on the east coast last night. The company, Air Serv are responsible for providing air to more than 65,000 locations. As part of their Air For Charity program, they're donating $100,000 per year for five years, directly from the profits of the machines, to a charity called Feed My Starving Children.
The most creative facebook posts of brands - oh hello brand persons.
So heads of creative hotbeds, like Ted Royer of Droga 5, and Gerry Graf founder of "Ragu-parents-have-sex" famous Barton F. Graf 9000 have a collection of the most creative facebook posts from brands.
Eric Silver of Silver + Partners loves this Pantone post (and who doesn't?)
Rob Reilly of CP+B appreciates pitch-perfect tone of voice in the words of Mayhem in this post here.
Dublin mural / street art ads - an ad agency dedicated to just that.
Rabbitholepromotions has an Instagram acct, showing off the work that Rabbit Hole does. THey're an ad agency that does street murals as advertising. Yep, like the AIDES and Red Cross ad murals except you know, for real. Murals are interesting, they have vastly different looks around the world northern Irish murals used to be mainly supporting a political point of view, remembering the fallen, and that sort of thing. Nice to be far enough away from that to suddenly have murals used as colorful splashes of ad-space instead.
CCO and CD from JWT India resign over Ford ad controversy
An update to the news about the misogynist Ford ads with Berslusconi, Hilton and Schumacher gagging their enemies and sticking them in the trunk.... Heads have rolled at JWT India for the tasteless campaign.

A statement from JWT India reads:
