We just thought we'd let y'all know that Adland is now proud home to The Claymore Project - a mind-boggling, historic and comprehensive collection of twenty-five friggin' years of Super Bowl commercials. 1979, 2003, and everything in between. Not too shabby.

In lieu of venture capital and suits, this was a project completed with blood, sweat and beers. And a love for the advertising game, good or bad. And some more beers. And some spiffy toys from Apple, Discreet and Sorenson (sadly, none donated). And then even some more beers.

Why? Because beer is good, and so is this collection. Click the fish and enjoy.

A short film, produced to commemorate the fortieth anniversary of The Bessies, Canada's broadcast advertising awards, follows the twists and turns in the life of an advertising idea. The tragi-comic film debuts at the gala in May, but an advance copy has been circulating on the net (see link) to rave reviews from frustrated creatives in Canada and abroad.

Jan van Meel may not judge at the Cannes awards this year as previously planned - as Jan van Meel just resigned from BBDO and judges have to be "firmly employed with an agency or a network".
Instead Ralf Zilligen Creative Director at Stoehr DDB will sit in the jury. Jan van Meel will get a second chance by nomination for a jury seat again next year.

Ad surfing during superbowl

The scenario in AOL's superbowl ad proved true - people do surf and superbowl at the same time.

Queries on search engines were superbowl inspired. The most popular search was for Oakland Raiders center Barret Robbins - he was suspended for the Super Bowl game. Other popular searching ranged from Dixie Chicks to Sting and askjeeves explaining to everyone that yes indeed, Celine Dion is Canadian and "God Bless America" is not the USA's national anthem.

I have cleaned up around the links and added a section for the blogs out there - plenty of you have one so why not add it?
All members blogs are welcome be they adranty or not. cheers.

The "latest ad links out" box now contains both the link to the links and the link to add one in the box itself - i'm hoping this clarifies it's use.

Before hawking Cocoa and Fruity Pebbles, Fred Flintstone was huffing and puffing on Winston cigarettes. No bull!

Check out this website of censored cigarette commercials from the 50’s and 60’s!

from dabitch: by July the website was taken down. shame. :(
There are more vintage cigarette ads in our SuperBowl Commercials - start in 1969 where every fifth ad is for cigarettes.
