Anti-tobacco briefs have been cracked every which way by now - so it's easy to fall into the trap of doing what others have done, as happened back in 1996, Welcome to Marlboro ads. Here's another case of same thought anti-tobacco ads.
These aren't your typical badlander candidates since both agencies belong to the same conglomerate, but the similarities do pile up. Literally.

A poster campaign for Black Ice (Smirnoff) currently running in the UK shows a bottle that bites, I guess they want to say that the drink has a bite. But doesn't everyone advertising alcohol want to say just that? Here's a cold case of coincidence.

Cult Shaker didn't get enough attention for their last stunt I suppose, and are at it again, begging for hype by covering bus posters and other outdoor media with two nude frolicking women but no selling point.
And once again, Kvindeligt Selskab reported them for "making the public space pornographic". Someone has vandalized most of the poster spaces already, with good old fashioned black spraypaint, which we presume Cult will have to foot the removal bill for.
The documentary Super Size me which got high praize at the Sundance Film Festival and doing really well at the boxoffice, is again in the news - this time for being "banned from MTV".
Reuters picks up a press release and headlines it: "Super Size Me" gets downsized by MTV", claiming that MTV has refused to air advertisements for documentary "Super Size Me"... Aaaah, but did they? The Hollywood reporter hears out MTVs version of the story, where a spokeswoman said the channel suggested some edits of the commercial, but ultimately accepted the original version. What MTV couldn't stomach was a scene where Spurlock was vomiting - this from the channel that brought you Jackass. By MTV's account, IDP then withdrew the commercial, "and instead of submitting the commercial, they chose to put out a press release." Is this simply a PR-ploy?
A Tooheys New beer has been pulled after complaints that it was cruel to cane toads - in the ad three men were seen using the poor critters as golf balls. Nearly 200 people complained they were not amused at watching toads being whacked with golf irons, even if the creative idea was a friendly poke at the NSW-Queensland rivalry. The advertiser news reports of many other banned and withdrawn ads, a Coca-Cola ads depicting people surfing on photocopiers, and a BMX ad where bikers jumped over cars for were both sentanced for encouraging "dangerous behaviour". Another ad, for Just Jeans, showed a bunch of boys throwing chairs down stairwells and off rooftops was deemed to show "gratuitous destruction and vandalism".
They might seem trigger happy down under but according to The advertiser the latest figures shows that only 11 complaints out of 1191 were upheld.
An ad that encourages Europeans to vote has been re-edited for Britain, editing out part of a scene where a young woman breastfeeds her baby.
The CAA felt it was too overtly sexual for it to be given a universal certificate. In all the other European Union countries the nipple version will air uncut, the voiceover says: "You've been voting since you were born: don't stop now - European parliament elections, 10th of June."
Don't try and look as cool as the Hanson boys if you're an androgynous fella with long hair under the age of ten. A magazine advert for Armani has been withdrawn after it received 74 complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority and 10 complaints to the The Times magazine supplement that ran the ad.
The complaints said that the ad "sexualised children" was "offensive" and "exploitative", while others said the ad "could encourage paedophiles".
Armani knows that the model is male, but the the ASA argued gender was ambiguous and the ad "drew attention to the child's sexuality". Armani has agreed to withdraw the ad and won't run it again in the UK.
