BETC + Violence Against Women = Huh?

To bring attention to the fact that 122 women died last year in france as a result of domestic violence, French agency BETC came up with some head scratching ads for feminist organization Ni Putes, Ni soumises. Which translated, means Neither Whores Nor Submissives. The ads were launched in advance of International Day For The Elimination Of Violence Against Women.

As for the ads, all I can say is: huh?

Toyota: protect what's behind you

Toyota wanted to get the word out that ,any car accidents happen when the driver is backing up. So, along with Happiness Brussels they got a bit of art on for Toyota.

The carmaker commissioned a series of 3d street paintings from artist Ernest Zacharevic , who painted a series of murals in a Brussels parking lot. The murals depict innocent kids playing and having fun, right in places where drivers are most apt to back up.

Along with all of them is a line: "Protect what's behind you. Drive with a rear-view camera."

Emotional without being sappy. Straight and to the point. And the drawings are quite beautiful, too.

Nice one, guys.

Wait, what's this how did this car get cut in half? That my dear, is what they want to to ask yourself, and if you snap a pic of the QR code you will be lead to this clip showing the unexpected Star Wars fight that happened in front of this car. Luckily they had signed up with DBS Bank Ltd car insurance and gotten a free dashboard camera.

Just one question. Where's the other half of the car?

Buy milk & give milk - Porteur bikes give one away for each one you buy

Our pal Martin Cedergren tells us about his latest project;

"Porteur is a new bicycle brand inspired by the bicycles used in the past by messengers and milkmen. With a front mounted carrier it’s perfect for contemporary city life. And it comes with a unique promise - for every bicycle sold, one bicycle is donated to youths in developing countries. One for one, the promise is carried forward.

To make people aware of this promise, we have created a new campaign called: Buy milk – Give milk.

On Thursday this week, ambassadors of the brand, will use Porteur bikes to deliver milk to offices in downtown Stockholm. One litre costs 98 Swedish crowns. All money is then donated to buy therapeutic milk for children in need via UNICEF - One for one.

DDB and Ad Council want you to stop the hate, kids.

DDB and the Ad Council created an anti-bullying campaign designed to get kids intervening when they see it happen. I do like that this campaign is aimed towards kids who see it happening but do nothing about it.

The campaign came with a spot as well as the print above. The print is stark and hard- hitting and does in a headline what the TV can't quite pull off, because it is hard to make bullying convincing unless it's from the heart.

Angry birds invade China via McDonald's & TBWA

Angry birds have invaded China by way of McDonald's. A special location-based campaign created by TBWA\ Shanghai in collaboration with Rovio allows game-players who visit McDonald's to unlock special hidden game modes and get free Power-Ups. Oh Finland, once you sold tyres all over the world, then cutting edge cellphones, and now you're the king of smart-phone games.

The location-based campaign is available to the millions of Angry Birds fans on iOS devices in China and serves as an invitation to others to join in and download the game.

Herman Melville & the Allegheny County Health Department - Wash your hands / Call me Ishmael

Mister Imagine's Toy Store allows imaginations to run wild by selling only plain cardboard boxes.

Welcome to Mister Imagine's Toy Store, where you'll find a giant castle, a music area, birdhouses, weather clouds, hot air balloons, and much more – all made out of cardboard. Oh, and that cardboard, those plain boxes - all for sale of course. The staff hosts workshops on how to create masterpieces out of ordinary cardboard. There's an augmented reality station in the store, where kids can hold up their bland boxes to the computer screen, and it will turn that box into a toy in the kids hands just to jump-start their imaginations. It's a car! It's a fort! It's a plane! It's Schrödinger's cat! Because we all remember how babies played with the box the expensive toy we bought came in, instead of with the toy.
