in my long experience as a woman and advertising practitioner, i*d say that the vast majority of contemporary advertising targeting women doesn*t give enough information. and sex is not something we would equate with some new packaged good, a car, a holiday, or hair care products.
most men recoil in horror over women*s service magazine layout and copy ("it*s confusing, too busy, too much information") while most women really dig mag pages jammed with product thumbnails with descriptive copy, price point, and *where to find it* copy all stuffed into a dense little block.

This could be a very helpful article...http//www.aef.com/06/landing. Check it out, it talks about current advertising approaches targeted towards women.
Hi everyone!
I*m an advertising student in the Netherlands and I*m on my final year, writing a thesis about advertising towards women today. Basically in the paper I*m comparing advertisements in the past times that mostly conveyed old gender stereotypes (about women as housewives, staying home, taking care of the family) and today*s advertisements targeting to women whereas nowadays there are more and more of them get higher education and entering workplace, being single longer, getting married later and having children later.
I really need some help to build my thesis! I have some questions regarding the subject and I would like to hear people*s opinions, esp. those who are women, to be included in my paper. Any thoughts, any opinions or ideas from everyone relating to questions below would be very very very helpful!
Which category is important in women buying behaviour, the brand, the quality, the price, or more on the functionality? How do women feel about them being sexualised in today*s ads? Are they receptive? Is it a powerful tool for today*s advertising? Would a public figure/celeb be a good endorser in today*s ads? What would women like to see in an ad today, what*s the important factor should be stressed on sex appeal, beauty, product features, self esteem, social aspect or self realisation? Any other aspect would be suitable to reach women more effectively? Which media would be best targeted for women today?
THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!!
