American Apparel: Welcome to Future Branding

I think it*s the only way to go - espeacillay the "No children were harmed" bit. Hey, ecological food, enverionmentally concious stuff, why not ethic-aware clothing?

No children were harmed in the making of this T-shirt

A brand we love American Apparel

The T-shirt, an American icon, was once a no-brainer to buy. But along with "Do I look good in this?" consumers all around are being made to ask, "Who makes this? Where is it made?"

The outsourcing of American jobs makes us directly responsible for supporting sweatshops and slave labor when buying an icon of freedom.

American Apparel responded by developing T-shirts and casual wear made locally with fair prices by people earning fair wages. And the result? It has become the largest T-shirt manufacturer in the US with $80MM in top-line revenue for 2003 and expectations of $150MM for 2004.

We*ve love to head ad-rants thoughts on an opinion piece here <!-- BBCode auto-link start -->http//www.threadyourbrand.com/aa.pdf<!-- BBCode auto-link end --> that we*ve written on a brand that*s shaking things up. eek

I*ve seen the website here in the adlinks, and I really liked the idea. Sorry I*m too wasted on this Friday to read your .pdf right now - just wanted to say I really liked the idea by the website alone. Made a good impression.
