yeeps! This happens all the time, I even have some concepts not bought or ran anywhere, that have won in Cannes and simalar places done by someone else. cry And I have never won anything as big as that, so offcourse it pisses me off when the clients don´t buy the right "cannes" solution

But I try to remind myself that what I´m doing is the right thing, and it will happen for me some day soon. And I think we (incl. myself) should stop crying. Still it´s just ideas, and we are creative, so I guess we can come up with new ideas. right!?

aye... thats always a problem too. Or like a mate of mine -- swear this always happens to him -- comes up with idea execution X, and in the middle of production, he sees similar idea execution X on the telly/in a mag. *ouch*

The minds in the same place rings true on many levels. Those unlucky enough to end up in Badland though, just have longer production times. hehehe.

Sort of number 3?

When raving to my mentor, idol and former CD about \"my\" concepts so lovingly developed yet destined to never leave my office -- that somehow wind up being used by someone else, somewhere else... he says...

\"there is a limited number of creative people in the world... their minds may often be in the same place at the same time (so hurry up and execute it before someone else does).\"

Those lucky enough to have clients who buy it may be those lucky enough to make it the Badland?

My personal paranoia, given the sheer amount of reading, browsing, looking and listening that I do, is that I*m stealing ideas and completely unaware of it.

I have my own strange theories about identical ads. They go as follows (and in no particular order)

1) There are no new ideas in a sense, just new twists.

2) Ok, there are new ideas.. Sometimes.

3) The idea God messes with us all and sometimes we all come up with the same solution to the same problem (Sell brand X soda to kids who don*t belive in advertising *will* spawn a hundred \"Image is nothing\" style ads..)

4) Ideas work on their own agenda and will happen worldwide when they are ready indepenant of each other.

5) The ad business is full of hack that steal from old awards books and newly graduated students portfolios.

6) all of the above happens all the time.

Goodness! Where has the integrity in advertising gone?

Like I always say, \"Originality is undetected plagiarism\"*
