Connections help a lot. You also need a lot of luck and good timing.
You can try sending out mini-books, but don*t expect them to get them back. Creative recruiters get dozens of unsolicited books every day.
Good luck!
Hi all,
Like adnewbie, I am new to the advertising world and in need of some serious coaching. I have started to put together a portfolio to send with my application to VCU, but want to find a job first so that I*ll have time to perfect my samples before I apply.
A friend at Cliff Freeman told me to send a "mini-book" to some CDs and just be persisitant. How much do these people respond to outlandish mail from randoms? Is this a good idea, or do I need some kind of inside connection to land a job these days?
Thanks vets!
