Need source for Cinema Screen Advertising clips

In my book, its the best spot ever. Very effective use of the whole desert/mirage theme, with people appearing and disappearing and all. Its done at a fast pace, with humor, and all to a great high energy dance beat that I have never been able to place (of course).

I confirmed that it was done by Young and Rubicam. In fact, there was a series of these ads with similiar themes. I have one on tape that I purchased from Adfilms about a year ago. It has an ocean/island adventure theme with the same appearing/disappeaing of various people throughout the ad. It actually runs over two minutes, but is not as good and catchy as the desert themed spot. There is a description of this spot as well at HistoricFilms.com

So how do I find out who the director or production company is and how to contact them?

What*s a good source for Movie Theater/Cinema Screen advertising clips? I want to buy a car commercial from 1980 that appeared in a cinema advertising campaign. usaTVads.com has the TV version, but I want the cinema version. Any leads would be much appreciated.

You can try adforum.com, but it might be tough if the cinema spot you*re looking for is from the *80s!

Thats a tough one Nano... I would*ve said usatvads but you already checked there.

Adforum only carries the "classic" eighties ads, like 1984 and whatnot, I doubt they*d store cinema variations.. (worth a shot i guess)

What made the cinema version so different? Lenght or was it a variation is editing as well?

Best bet is the production company/director who shot the ad then. Which ad is it?

Thanks for the response guys. The ad is for a Lincoln Mercury Capri and I believe it is entitled "Magic". I am interested in the cinema version because it is longer (1min 42secs) and it is the only version I ever saw (worked at a theater in Toledo). I loved it then and now it has a lot of sentimental value to me.

HistoricFilms.com has a copy of it, but their website says they do not deal with private collectors so I have not called them yet. Here is the description from their online database

I am thinking Young and Rubicam did the ad. I have this somewhere but need to check my notes.

WoW! Nearly a two minute ad? I wanna see this gem! The longest I ever got away with was 72 seconds... haha!
