You*re right!

- harharhar grin
>>this should go in the dictionary man.. I*ve never heard the word "bumpers" used before - and are you calling me an old fart?! lol
Your eyesight must be failing in your old age - I wrote that old farts called them Station IDS, not idents.
Bhphfffft!
Bumpers be more fun.
this should go in the dictionary man.. I*ve never heard the word "bumpers" used before - and are you calling me an old fart?! lol
we*ll us old farts in old europe call it idents - and so do creatives in japan. Neeener! [at least they did last time i was at TYO]
>>i love the scifi network
idents
- don*t you guys in the states call them Idents too?
Well, I have heard the older farts in the biz use the classic "Station ID" nomenclature on occasion when talking about this stuff. But being raised and trained in the cable / satellite age, I learned to call them
Bumpers
(see? I can make*em bold too!), since it was the lowly cable nets that took the ol* throw-the-logo-on-the-screen-after-the-show-and-say-something-dorky-like-"This is CBS," and made it into a new art form. Or at least a place where the creatives were allowed to screw around, have some fun, try something new and/or flex some muscle. They*re a quick and great way to smack some brandin* personality into the viewers* noggins betwixt shows and spots, methinks.
Besides, it*s more fun to bumpify than identify. wink
i love the scifi network
idents
- don*t you guys in the states call them Idents too?
my lifelong dream was to make MTV idents. wink i*d love to make idents actally - been dying for a brief like that since i started working. It would be sooo much fun!
smile
*Round these parts, we consider network "bumpers" to be just as much a commercial as the traditional kind - they*re selling their net, just like regular commercials sell their product.
And yes, we have it - it was on deck for posting this week, but I moved it ahead of the pack since you*re looking for it.
Just search for "SciFi Network - Sprite (Fairy) Bumper"
Cheers,
Clay2 grin
This is more of a transition in between commercials on the Sci Fi Network. It*s of a child-like creature with no hair and huge, blue eyes. It also has fly-like wings on its back and suction cup fingers. It flys down and lands on the screen to look through at the viewer. then it flies up a little and lands on the screen again to look through some more. then it flies away. I really wish i could find this. thanks for the help.
