I can't speak for the other creatives out there who read this drivel, but this whole consumer-generated push seems to me like a real Christmas gift. Rather than creatives having to suffer all the vapid briefs, banal insights, foolish mandatories, vacuous creative direction, and infantile directors, let the consumers deal with it. It's so much more democratic this way: advertising for consumers, by consumers. Let's hope they can replace us at focus groups too!Posted: 6 years 22 weeks agoon the post: Southwest wants you to make their next ad

This 'gift' wouldn't involve shaving one's nether regions, would it? You have to admit, the shaven kiwi website was a pretty bold attempt to capitalize on something that other, more successful razor companies have tended to shy away from...Posted: 6 years 22 weeks agoon the post: Get your gift profile form Philips

I can't quite decide if these are great or if I'm miffed at having been fooled into reading the copy....But I guess the humorous twists in the copy sort of redeem the ruse.Posted: 7 years 4 weeks agoon the post: Ginsters - Real Honest Food (2006) Press (UK)

Hey, at $150 a pop, it's pretty much a bargain, don't you think? Anyone have any idea how low the CPM is on that?Posted: 7 years 7 weeks agoon the post: Verizon fined for guerilla campaign in Washington DC

Dude, what are you thinking? You*re in the industry*s most creative region! And if you*ve been working for Elrick, all the better! But if you*re so hell bent on leaving the comforts and beauty of *ole Singapore, try São Paulo. Brasil is probably the industry*s second most creative region. Try Ogilvy there. And McCann, Nazca/Saatchi, and FCB. (Yes, FCB...probably their best office worldwide...It*s actually called Giovanni FCB.) Hope this helps, mate.Posted: 7 years 9 weeks agoon the post: Singaporean Creative Looking to Get More Creative

Come on, people. Lighten up! This is totally in brand character. The whole point of Axe is that when you use it, you get laid. In this case, they've found a clever way to emphasize -- once again -- that Axe is the official body spray of getting some hot action. Even if the love button in question actually belongs to a mouse!Posted: 7 years 10 weeks agoon the post: The AXE mousepad stunt - not very clever after all.

Hey, I just call it like I see it. I've worked in this bloody business long enough to spot what seems plausible and what seems like, well...onanism...(or, masturbation, for lack of a better word.) Trouble is, all the young 'uns who get into the racket imagine advertising to be something totally different than what it really is. Had I known better, I would probably have chosen a different path. I guess the point in all of this is that only about .002% of all the advertising ever created is worthwhile. And for that .002% to be created, the planets have to align. And even when the planets DO align, it usually doesn't involve being able to "wite out" vital elements of famous catastrophe photos.Posted: 7 years 12 weeks agoon the post: Correction fluid ads that never were
