>>He his dense. A personal attack, thanks. >>>>And the defense made for this has fallen short. There is never a reason to use this imagery in an ad. >> >>It has not, you haven*t even understood the defense yet, as you demonstrate below >> >>>>It wasn*t for your benefit, Blabla had incorrectly stated the events of the Crucifixion. >> >>Blabla stated >> >> I don*t agree that it is creatively unnecessary at all, if it*s common people >>have Jesus hanging from the mirror in their car why not use that to >>illustrate the cars speed? Tell me why not - after all, it is the believers >>themselves who hung Jesus there in the first place. >> >>In others words he is talking about the habit of hanging Jesus from the rear view mirror which is common in the land where this ad ran. NOT about who hung Jesus on a cross some twothousand years ago. Maybe I read it wrong and reacted too quickly, but if you were hanging a rosary from your rear view, you are doing so for religious reasons (safe driving, etc.), to mock the very consumer audience you hope to bring in would be like trying to sell Coke, by having it replace wine during a mass. It is terminally insulting. Bennetton has suffered in the US because of the same thinking (depicting a "priest" and "nun" kissing). There is never a reason to utilize such images unless you are a hack. >>>>As for off-discussion, I apologize, but I can ASSURE you it is not hearsay and witnessed it with my own eyes, >>>>and not from the safety of a TV. >> >>Coming from someone who can*t read a sentance in English and understand it, I have no doubt that you can have misjudged what you witnessed as well. Let me return the favor, coming from someone who can*t spell "sentence" I*ll just say that seeing Muslim store keeps running in the streets thanking "allah" and handing out candy to children 5 miles from the WTC, as they fell, was certainly misunderstood by me and many other New Yorkers. >>>>So if someone disagrees with the your point of view they are slandered to the point of being referred to as a troll? >> >>The practice of misconstruing peoples arguments, the misdirection you have displayed is fairly Troll like. Look it up in some Wikipedia and you*ll realise your posts exibit the classic behaviour, that is what she is asking "are you dense (for not understanding english) or just a troll (Purposly not understanding in order to create controversy/flamepit)?". >>evil >>I vote he is a Troll and ask Dab, Robblink, Claymore whomever comes around first to do us all a favour and ban this guy. Feel free to silence me, but my objection to the popular view here does not make me a troll nor dense. The ad is in poor taste at best, from a creative*s standpoint, it is utter hackdom. >>>>Actually that is far from correct. Jews were responsible for the killing of Jesus. >> >>Are you dense or just a troll? Please stay in 2003, we*re talking about the habit of Spanish and Italian drivers (today) to hang Jesus+cross symbol on their rear view mirror. >> >>Then someone used that to illustrate the speed of a car. And the defense made for this has fallen short. There is never a reason to use this imagery in an ad. >>No need to tell me story of Jesus, I had plenty of religious studies (of all religions) as per custom in Swedish >>schools. It wasn*t for your benefit, Blabla had incorrectly stated the events of the Crucifixion. >>On second thought, you probably are a troll. We discuss ads here, not bigotry. That "celebration" post is at best >>heresay. Were discussing the use of Jesus in ads. Remember? Please stick to the topic. As for off-discussion, I apologize, but I can ASSURE you it is not hearsay and witnessed it with my own eyes, and not from the safety of a TV. So if someone disagrees with the your point of view they are slandered to the point of being referred to as a troll? CPPosted: 9 years 46 weeks agoon the post: catholics take offense?

>> Obviously, WTC 9/11 will never be used in ad, say like Perl Harbour was never used in ad, and neither would Hiroshima be. It doesn*t have a happy ending. And a Man trying to stay nailed to a cross is? CPPosted: 9 years 47 weeks agoon the post: catholics take offense?

>>"Muslim attack"? Not the best choice of words I have seen. Attack performed by muslims is more correct. Maybe to you, but very accurate. Muslim communities within 5 miles of the attack were celebrating in the streets as the Towers fell. CPPosted: 9 years 47 weeks agoon the post: catholics take offense?

>>Tell me why not - after all, it is the believers >>themselves who hung Jesus there in the first place. Actually that is far from correct. Jews were responsible for the killing of Jesus. When Pontius Pilate offered a choice to kill either Jesus or a local criminal, the Jews all hailed that Jesus be killed. Pilate gave them another chance and they chose to have Jesus killed. After years of Christians being fed to the lions, Caesar, on his death bed, accepted Christ as his savior. CPPosted: 9 years 47 weeks agoon the post: catholics take offense?

Still disagree. From a creative standpoint, it is too easy to do and creatively unnecessary. In time, are you suggesting that Nike (or whatever sneaker company) utilize the Muslim attack on the World Trade Towers as a concept, say those who wore said sneaker were able to get away? Should jetBlue say fly us because it wasn*t one of our planes? The use of "oh my god" is far different then a depiction of Jesus trying to stay on the cross to sell a piece of crap french car. Yours is a common expression, the visual in the ad is insulting both creatively and to the world*s largest religion. CPPosted: 9 years 47 weeks agoon the post: catholics take offense?

Adweak.com was never funny. It just appeared to me to be some hack creatives at a huge agency displaying their hackdom on a website. Fuckedcompany.com was funny. CPPosted: 9 years 48 weeks agoon the post: Whatever happened to Adweak?

Sorry dabitch, I disagree. If you need to attack a religious symbol, that is the depiction of God*s son being painfully crucified to sell a product, you have no business writing ads. CPPosted: 9 years 48 weeks agoon the post: catholics take offense?
