    on the post: New site?
  • actually, not particularly unusual... in my experience with making music for commercials (I've done well over 100 of them) the picture is nearly completed by the time they involve the music. Most of the time, the picture will still go through several edits and/or tweeks during this period, but the percentage of times that the music is written before the picture is created is very small (not counting the commercials where there is on-camera singing).

  • "yes" I don*t know if you still have any remaining invites... I did see this post several months ago when it was originally created, but for some reason it was not until today that I had any desire to actually have a gmail account!... then I remembered this post... and... well...you know the rest. Thanks! smile

  • >>I*ve had a request from some thin-skinned person a long while back to close his account as he was offended by something another user said and decided to leave the site over it. The really funny thing is not so much that he was offended by someones post and wanted to leave the site... but rather that he actually needed to have his account officially closed . I could see if someone were continuously and intentionally verbally abused somewhere, that he may say "man, those guys are jerks. I*m not going there anymore." ...but I just don*t get needing to have someone delete your own account too. ...just don*t come back... I*d think that should do it. smile

  • This is one of the problems with licensing existing songs for commercials. You have no brand identity. I actually saw these 2 commercials back to back on TV in the same commercial break... my first thought was "man, there must be some pissed off clients right now." ...and since it is related, one of the other problems with this kind of licensing is the way the different commercials can attach a different emotion to the same song and ruin the intended effect from the music. For example, there is another piece of music that is currently being used in 2 different commercials. One commercial is using it as a "cool fashion-y" track, and the other is using the music as a parody and completely making fun of the music and positioning it as "cheezy"... it makes the "cool" one no longer seem "cool"... makes that music seem like a joke, too.
