  • I actually don't mind them revealing the production. It created a legitimate buzz, and I thought it was pretty smart. It's just that the final product fell so short of our expectations. The first time I saw the "making of" clip, I pictured a few scenarios of how the finished product is going to look like, and I knew I was going to be blown away because Jonathan Glazer would come up with something to astound and do magic with that footage. So it came with disappointment when it was just straight-up documentary camera work with hackneyed music. Is the purpose of the clown really just to replace the frog? Either way, it feels unimportant this time around.

  • Hey Hygge Only just saw your list! I missed it before leaving for London and Amsterdam. I didn*t see many places in either of those cities. Actually also kind of lost a day in Amsterdam after a visit to a Smart Shop.

  • What*s yours? I*m a senior copywriter from Singapore and will be making a trip there in two weeks. The plan is to show my book around. Besides 180, WK, Kesseslkramer and strawberryfrog, I don*t really know of other places I should write to – and I suspect that there should be more. I*ll also be in London doing the same thing the week before so any help would be gold. If you are an art director looking for writer, please check out my portfolio at noelyeo.com

  • I*ll be in Tokyo next week for an interview and am thinking of visiting other ad agencies to show my work. I was wondering which would be the good places to go for that has great work. Thanks!

  • I produced a TV spot with M&C Saatchi Singapore last year. Same thing: baby in bin. Check it out at: http://web.mac.com/yeo/iWeb/reserve/06_files/Kid%20Eng.mpg

  • Well, I would watch if they could make science as fun as this. And I doubt the younglins would miss the reference. It's an enduring image. Would love to see a campaign if there's one.

  • It sure is disappointing. The game was more fun. Vincent's in the clouds. What really threw me off was the weather vane. I thought it was a hidden item and spelled it in different ways. With rooster and cock.

  • You are probably right. Ironically, it*s the same advice I give to friends who want to look for a job in Singapore, "Just come and you*ll find something." Well, I thought I*d do some scouting around online first, exchange thoughts with people (like I do now with you) and form a better opinion on things before the eventual, unavoidable job search trip. I love the idea of inexpensive beer. Alcohol taxes are high here in Singapore. The upside is that I can go to any bar in the world and order freely, because I will not pay more than I*m used to.

  • Thanks Hygge for liking my portfolio. I have written to all four of the agencies you mentioned, and except for KesselsKramer, which said they weren*t hiring, none of them replied. In which case I could have to spread my wings a bit further. So, Dabitch (I still feel odd typing your name out), I*m not averse at all to other agencies in Amsterdam. I will write to Springer & Jacoby. I just checked out s-w-h.com and I must confess that I have never heard of them. Their website is also not in English, which makes it difficult for me to learn more. Rain? I*ll bear that in mind. I do think too that music could be reward enough. Several times over. You*ve made me more keen, really. Oh no...

  • I was working for Elrick. But he*s spread quite thinly across the region, especially since he moved to Shanghai, China. São Paulo, huh? Never occured to me. I guess I will write to those places you suggested. See how everything pans out. For some reason I figured living in Amsterdam might be my thing, but I could be wrong. You have been a big help, thanks!
