BETC wins the Grand Prix Film Craft for "The Bear"

After taking home a pawful of Yellow Pencils at D&AD Awards earlier this year, the team at BETC Paris takes home some more metal for their work on "The Bear" for Canal +.

"I have never met a bear with such an appetite for lions before", jokes Stéphane Xiberras, CCO of BETC Paris and creative director of "The Bear," at the news of the success at this years Cannes Lions Festival. At Saturday night's ceremony, "The Bear" for Canal+ was awarded no less than four Golds (three in the Film Craft category and one in Film), one Silver (Film Craft) and the Film Craft Grand Prix.

Cyber Lions Grand Prix to Tweets and Utility App

This year, two campaigns took home the Cyber Lions Grand Prix.

Sweden - Curators of Sweden by VOLONTAIRE in Stockholm have some fancy new metal to show off. The post about the world's most democratic twitter account has been read over eleven thousand times already, which isn't always a good thing.

The #CannesLions cyber shortlist adland picks. Who will win tomorrow?

What will win in Cyber? That's always the toughest category you know, and the one with the most fun entries. :) Let have a look at a few.

Take this lollipop is on the shortlist. Yes, the creepy stalker who wil stalk your facebook photos from a dusty hideout complete with tricycle. Creeepy. Directed by Jason Zada, Created by TOOL Santa Monica, produced by Brian Latt, Oliver Fuselier and Dustin Callif. Developed by Jason Nickel. It's pretty cool.

#CannesLions fun, bingo, boondoggle scale and the wrath of Cannes again

Doug Zanders of The advertising week social club has posted the THE CANNES BOONDOGGLE SCALE - read it to find out what number on the scale that you are. I will nod and agree that Bob Garfield is indeed an eight and feebly admit that last year which y'all know was the best and worst Cannes and nearly killed me, I was a boondoggle ten. On the upside, New Zealand is a really nice place.

Need to cool down in Cannes? Leo Cornett the ice-cream van to the rescue. #CannesLions

Ben & Milo from Leo Burnett London actually drove from west Kennes to Cannes.... in an ice cream van. Their tumblr LeoCornett.tumblr.com keeps up with their whereabouts and last night they pulled in to the Majestic Hotel corner of the Croisette and delivered ice-cream to the tired adgeeks found wandering stumbling between the Palais and the bars. Follow them on twitter too @leocornett and you'll know where they may strike next. Just don't tell Cannes security, apparently they don't fancy random ice-cream trucks pulling in and delivering soft cones of joy to people unannounced.

Cannes Lions has its own hashtag page. #CannesLions

It's the first time in three years running that I am not at the Cannes Lions Festival, and wouldn't you know it, this year they finally get their own official hashtag page #CannesLions. I'm sure the press papers still read "EMBARGOED no tweeting, emailing, or in any way revealing the winners before 21:30" every morning, but at least now we can follow the happy drunken Cannes visitors with ease from a distance.

You either Cannes or you Cannt. I can't do either *sob*

Yes, it's time for another year of Cannt - the London ad getogether for those who can't go to Cannes. June 18th – 22nd the Cannt festival will showcase and reward the best creative talent in the UK, who are still stuck in the UK instead of drinking that pink Evian in the south of France. It's a nice idea, and takes care to recreate the hobnobbing and creative gossiping over cool drinks in the summer heat, except in London far from sandy beaches. I'd go if I were in London.

CANNT 2012 is coming 18th-22rd June.
Once again we will be taking over venues in London to bring a little of the Cannes experience to those not lucky enough to go.
Because you either Cannes or you CANNT.
