Dan Wieden Honoured With Lion of St Mark - Cannes Lions 2012

First Sir John Hegarty, now Dan Wieden. It's just been announced that the 2012 recipient of the Lion of St. Mark will be Dan Wieden, Co-Founder and Global Executive Creative Director of Wieden+Kennedy. Dan Wieden commenting on the award said:

"This is a pretty big honour. To be honest, I've always identified with that renown military leader, of whom it was said, his men would follow him anywhere. Mainly, out of curiosity."

Yes, it's time for another year of Cannt - the London ad getogether for those who can't go to Cannes. June 18th – 22nd the Cannt festival will showcase and reward the best creative talent in the UK, who are still stuck in the UK instead of drinking that pink Evian in the south of France. It's a nice idea, and takes care to recreate the hobnobbing and creative gossiping over cool drinks in the summer heat, except in London far from sandy beaches. I'd go if I were in London.

CANNT 2012 is coming 18th-22rd June.
Once again we will be taking over venues in London to bring a little of the Cannes experience to those not lucky enough to go.
Because you either Cannes or you CANNT.

D&AD announces yellow pencil winners.... and they are..

Philips 'Obsessed with Sound campaign by Tribal DDB Amsterdam wins the Yellow Pencil in the Digital Design: Sound Design & Use of Music for Websites category, adding yet-another-award to this campaigns list of awards, it's won everything from SXSW to the Dutch Spin Awards and shortlisted in the Clio's.

Chris Baylis, Executive Creative Director, Tribal DDB Amsterdam is chuffed about the pencil, he said:

"When you get into the ad industry, a D&AD pencil is the one you want to win. It's great to have our creativity and craft recognised by the best of the best."

15th Annual SXSW awards, winners are Obsessed with Sound, lollipop stalker Jason Zada and Tesco

The winners were revealed last night at the 15th Annual SXSW Interactive Awards ceremony in Austin, Texas. The SXSW Interactive Music category rewards exceptional projects related to musicians, bands, and the music industry.

Decapitated golden horse-head mailer freaks out brands in Sweden

Gyllene Hästen (the golden horse) are reminding agencies and clients out there that they're eligible for an award if they just enter. I was in the jury last year together with some old-school virtual friends of mine as we all used to hang out in the Swedish advertising forum Bold back in the day. At the end of a long day of casting votes we had two entries with the same score. We really wanted to saw the golden horse in half and call it a day.

AAF Dallas ADDY's reminders, only for the obsessed - like us.

This years ADDY's were according to the AAF "The best ever" with over 450 entries, over 400 attendees and a wonderful evening of celebrating the best work in Dallas. Of course they also made some fun films like an award show is won't to do, and I need to Badland at least one of them. Congrats!
