Originally from Tangier, Morocco, Hamri has gained global recognition for her directorial work on feature films, commercials, and music videos. Her MTV VMA award-winning “Super Bass” music video for Nicki Minaj has had over 400,000,000 hits on YouTube. She has also directed videos for stars including Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, Justin Bieber, Rihanna, Alicia Keys, Sting and more. Some of her most recent work includes Prince’s “Black Sweat” and “Musicology,” Lupe Fiasco feat. Skylar Grey’s “Words I Never Said,” and Jadakiss feat. Mariah Carey’s “You Make Me Wanna.”
Sanaa has also built an impressive portfolio of commercial projects, with spot work for major brands including Coors Light, Jenny Craig, J&J, and AT&T via top agencies such as Havas, JWT, and BBDO, to name a few.
Hamri’s debut feature film was the romantic comedy Something New for Focus Features. She then went on to direct Mariah Carey’s live concert documentary, The Adventures of Mimi, followed by the sequel to the Warner Brothers’ hit The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and the Fox Searchlight romantic comedy Just Wright starring Queen Latifah. Hamri has also directed several episodes for television series including Glee, Shameless, Nashville, and Desperate Housewives.
Hamri joins DNA after a series of headline-grabbing projects. The company has garnered a reputation as a premier production house through industry-leading work with an array of major brands, artists and organizations including Sony, Lexus, Target, Budweiser, and Verizon, to name a few. Recently, DNA produced an energetic campaign for the Samsung Galaxy 11, and a breathtaking music video for David Gray’s single, “Back in the World.”
