Would you like some ads in your Skype call? No? Tough, you're getting them anyway.

Skype just announced an advertising update called Conversation Ads. Yes, banners that pop up right as you're having a cybersex moment .. err.. conversation. The only way they could be more annoying is if they applied to the topic of what you're talking about somehow.... Perhaps now people will finally migrate to G+ because hangouts just plain work.

The worst part here is that Skype seems to think we'll be talking about ads on Skype. Which I will, because I am that weird and actually do that already, but how did you know, WHY U SPY ON ME?

We're excited to introduce Conversations Ads as an opportunity for marketers to reach our hundreds of millions of connected users in a place where they can have meaningful conversations about brands in a highly engaging environment. Skype is already at the center of meaningful conversations, where families, friends, and colleagues spend time together.
While on a 1:1 audio call, users will see content that could spark additional topics of conversation that are relevant to Skype users and highlight unique and local brand experiences. So, you should think of Conversation Ads as a way for Skype to generate fun interactivity between your circle of friends and family and the brands you care about. Ultimately, we believe this will help make Skype a more engaging and useful place to have your conversations each and every day.

Easy. When we want to talk about ads, we'll hang out on skype. when we want to have cybersex, we'll have a G+ hangout.
All of a sudden i'll be using G+ more often.

....and so will everyone else, because if you ain't careful you'll be leaving that hangout wide open to public circles and presto, you have an audience.
