Mom's Demand Action - Anti Gun / Choose One - print ads 2013

Mom's demand action signed off on this print campaign that shows children holding one banned object and one object that is not banned. The surprise being that the not banned is the big scary looking gun on the right. Dodgeball is banned? Well, in a single New Hampshire school it is. Oh, and the US ban of Kinder eggs has been cracked , and it's now safe to sell, so either that ad waited around to get clearance or someone failed the research.
That leaves us with the ban on little Red Ridinghood, which actually was banned... in two school districts in California. Is that the sort of ban we want those scary looking guns to get too? Like a you may not carry your gun into this school district ban?
Just to be clear. A school district deciding not to carry a book is not the same as the government making it illegal for you to read the book, own the book, or have fifty bazillion copies of the book at your house where all the neighborhood kids get to hang out and read it. One school in NH deciding to not play Dodgeball isn't the same as all states banning the sale or ownership of dodgeballs.

In short, while I see how easy this simple image idea can be campaigned forever using all sorts of banned items, I also see that every banned item chosen so far is a fallacy. Nice try though.

why not get to reality. The majority of gun owners of any sort will never use one against another human being even if that person is an actual threat. ads of this sort as just as low as the other liberal tactics used to mislead and corrupt.

true.

Clearly, this campaign was created more for award shows, than for gun control. The premise seems convoluted and downright false - making it sound like kids today are allowed to bring assault weapons to school , which just isn't true. In addition, the awkwardly worded headline, in combination with the gun visual, almost makes it sound like the gun is supposed to protect child. And, as the moderator pointed out already, all the facts are completely false...or so close to being false, as to be very misleading.

I also wonder where these ads are actually running? I'm betting the media buy is a joke. Just to get the ads into the awards.

Sorry, just seems like there's got to be a better, less confusing, more honest way to promote something as inherently compelling as gun reform.

There are better ways, for sure. But when, award show deadlines loom who has time to worry about logic?

Mommies Demand are much too ignorant of guns to be taken seriously. Only responsible gun owners have gun sense. The general public cannont legally own an assault weapon as true assault weapons are fully automatic. We already have enough infringement of the 2nd Amendment. Enforce the gun laws that exist. Keeping guns out the hands of the mentally ill is the primary means to prevent sensless slaughter.

I wonder if Moms Demand ever noticed how domestic violence often turns into shooting sprees.
