Kellogg's names cereal after street drug: Coco Rocks.

There are naming agencies out there who check your new name against every conceivable slang or foreign language so that you can avoid stepping in it and choose embarrassing names like the Probe car.
Seems Kellogg's forgot to call them when they began stocking the shelves in the UK with their chocolaty crunchy cereal Coco Rocks. Drug users and those in the know have been snickering at the name ever since the launch earlier this year as Coco Rocks means "dark brown crack cocaine" to them. Oh dear!
Though as any parent will tell you the sugary cereals do seem to have the same addiction rate as crack among kids, buy them once and they never return to sugar-free cereal - so perhaps it's simply truth in advertising after all. ;)

Hmmmm... Perhaps this is all planned - the "crack made with chocolate pudding" does sound a bit odd doesn't it? ;)
This post has attracted the attention of Tequila, the TBWA toy that boasts they invented "DISRUPTON" a methodology whereby they provide their clients with ideas and actions that break the mould.
Anyway, people from the super secret Tequila Hacienda are hitting the front page right now so they are talking about something around here, and since Coco Rocks is their client, it might just be this post. ;)

If it's the brainchild of Tequila, it's awesome! That would just be too funny, I've even seen this story in The Age (Melbourne) and of course, Ananovas quirky news.
While I'd love to think Tequila came up with it, no agency is that clever.

Well, yeah, it would be devilishly clever.. ;)
Though Coco Rocks aren't the only ones to have chosen unfortunate names, if it's any conciliation.
Some examples of names that makes anglo-speakers giggle, the Poo Tofu-stick, the Cok hotels Amsterdam (now wisely using their owners name, Ramada), Pocari Sweat, and of course my all time favorite winegums as depicted on my desk right now: Spunk! (also available as a sweet scnapps!)
