NBC Peacock - station ID (2010)

NBC Peacock - station ID (2010)

A collaboration between Nathan Love and NBC Artworks, this short animation explores the origins of the NBC logo.

The origins of the feathers are from some evil spirit-seeds swallowed by the peacock, it appears. Hehe.

Nathan Love explains;

“The brief was to create a stand-alone logo animation for NBC. The only guidelines were to make it our own, and of course, for it to be ‘the best logo ever.’"

It might just be the funniest logo ever, Nathan.

V Energy Guarana - Pomparkour / Ladder Sport - (2010) New Zealand

Ok, FORGET SKATEBOARDS, I take it all back. I don't wanna skateboard at all, I wanna do this new “Pompakour” thing with ladders. You know, because parkour just isn't dangerous enough. I wanna be hopping over buildings like I'm frickin' spidey-man and ...woah, I'd type more but the vertigo I got from watching this ad just made me fall off my chair.

Seriously though, these guys are professional stuntmen, they have safety-stuff rigged to them that is edited away in post, these sort of tricks should not be attempted at home by impressionable young kids who reckon green-sugar-goo with infused guarana is tasty. Clear?

.... moms will be calling to complain in 3...2..1

Making of HaveYouBeenShortlisted.com - (2010)

Making of HaveYouBeenShortlisted.com - (2010)

Each time a new gadget craze sweeps the Internet, there's a high probability that the movers and shakers in the advertising world will be among its earliest (and most enthusiastic) adopters ⎯ especially if the brand name "Apple" is attached. When the tech giant released its interactive iPad tablet in May, developers and producers working in the ad space immediately began to explore its implications on filmmaking.

Santa Monica-based production company Tool of North America responded to the release of the iPad by producing "Touching Stories," a series of four interactive live action shorts that allow viewers to touch, move, shake and turn the screen to seemingly control the outcome of each story. Available as a free downloadable app from the iTunes store in June, the film series launched with an exclusive behind-the-scenes feature on Fast Company magazine's website.

"Touching Stories" leverages the interactivity of the iPad to expand the ways a film director is able to tell a story, but the concept also has implications in the realm of branded consumer experiences. With that in mind, Tool turned to its longtime PR company TRUST to get the attention of a very specific audience during the Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival: the top creative minds in advertising.  read more »

Dickies has hired Goodby, Silverstein & Partners to make them more famous, and the first campaign put the their 874 Work Pants to the test to prove they're so tough you have to "Earn Them". In this ad there's direct reference to Levi Strauss old logo with the horses, but Dickies are tougher and have the 874 meet 1850cc. Ouch.

Sony - Move - (2010)

To get the gaming world psyched for the release of its new motion-sensing controller PlayStation Move, electronics giant Sony teamed up with San Francisco-based creative studio TEAK to concept, produce and handle post-production on "Move", a three-minute film that premiered at the annual E3 video game conference this past June.

The short combines original 3D modeling, live action and videogame footage to show how gamers of all ages can use the motion joystick to experience the console's immersive onscreen worlds. TEAK Creative Director/Director Greg Rowan came up with the original idea for "Move" and with the support of motion designers Frank Glinski and Josh Miller, crafted the concept from inception to completion.  read more »
