There's a FAQ here, that answers that question and many more, you might want to look at it.

Most likely, the reason you can't see anything is because your Quicktime does not have all components installed - just make sure your QT is shiny and new and complete, either by reinstalling, or using the link in the FAQ that leads to apples Quicktime Check, or by clicking on the menu in your QT program: help -> Update existing Software. Easy as pie.
