Lynx - Rules Rugby (as demonstrated by babes)
Lynx wants everyone to know the rules of rugby, so to make the entire straight male population (and possibly some gay women) pay attention they swapped out the burly men with tree-trunk thick muscle-thighs for sweaty nimble women who tackle, ruck and maul. I've learned so much from this, see usually I'm just distracted by the beefy men in tiny shorts piling up on each other. Hubba.
Match.com - Train Station / She began to dance - (2011)
Girl on the platform smile
The boy thought, thats the best smile he has seen for a while
She must have been about 26?....28?......28
And her skin looks really really great
She was a natural blond
She wasn't natural blonde
But that's what made me fond of her
She was off to Hull? Leeds? Wigan?
Off to Wigan, the home of pies
With her beautiful, beguiling eyes
And she looked at the boy with the 'fancy pants' words
And she began to dance
She began to dance
Oh....oh...
She began to dance
She be....
Girl on the platform smile
The boy thought, thats the best smile he has seen for a while
Dial for men - "Camp Dirt" - case study.
The best part of any bath or shower is getting dirty. No, not that kind of dirty (well... ok, yeah that too), I mean the grime-kind of dirty. Little kids know this, and now grown men got to be little kids again at Camp Dirt where there's was a proper slimey mud-slide, a paintball 'pocolypse zone, a mud-superbowl, bobcat racing, the occasional nosebleed and all kinds of dirty muddy fun. Philly-based agency Red Tettemer + Partners created this "Camp Dirt" for Dial for Men. The ultimate, one-of-a-kind, fantasy filth-fest. From 160,000 entrants, 20 were chosen to come and wear their dirt like a badge of honor. Good times.
(Even Whisk knows Dirt is fun, but Dial is for you, not your clothes. )
Old Spice - Sea Captain / Swagger - (2011) :30 (USA)
Is that Neal Bledsoe behind the massive beard? Neal Bledsoe was in Old Spice "Danger Zone", this non-Isiah actor is shilling a specific scent, not the whole enchilada. (Not that enchilada, stop thinking about Isiah Mustafah for a second now will you! Jebus, you people.)
Australian Surfer Sunblock - Localism / Duff / Punked - print, Australia
The beaches of Australia are apparently as dangerous as the rest of the country which is full of scary stuff. Australia's wildlife includes seventeen of the world's most deadly snakes, killer spiders, poisonous jellyfish and fast-running saltwater crocodiles who lay in wait for you if you take the same path twice. If any of that doesn't get you, the sun will try and kill you too.
Genea - Sydney IVF is "reborn" as Genea with a real birth in their commercial
Unlike the self-promo "Getting into Mother", this birth filmed is tastefully edited and quite beautiful. If only all birthing sessions were over in one minute, amiright ladies?
The background: Sydney IVF are rebranding to be Genea, so it makes sense they'd be "reborn" in their ad as well. This ad will air on Australian TV after nine pm.
The mother in the ad had three previous uncomplicated births and agreed to be filmed during this one, Zia built a rapport with the father, mother and mid-wife and flew to New Zealand a few days before her due date to be able to witness the birth with camera.
Osteoarthritis can make your bones collapse like WTC in 9/11
I'm not all too familiar with Osteoarthritis, but according to this ad it can make your knees collapse like the world trade center twin towers did in 9/11. Scary stuff, I better take some meds.
Not the first ad from the world of adland to have the twin towers as visual, eaten by cookie monsters and with plances crashing into them. We collected a few pre-9/11 and post 9/11 ads under that link.
Rexona - Superhero Intern - Meteorite (2011) :30 (Argentina)
OH MY LORD! A mini meteor threatens the capitol! Quick, call the intern super hero! And hey check that out, the Copenhagen Opera house serves as the outdoor shot for the super-hero headquarters. Makes sense they'd use that place as HQ.

Mitchum Advanced Control - "Dawson's Kid" - (2011) :30 (USA)
On behalf of Brand New School, it's our pleasure to share this spot that director Jonathan Notaro and his BNS colleagues have recently created for advertising agency Mother New York as part of its "Love Thy Pits" campaign for Mitchum.
The campaign contributions from BNS include three :30 spots in total, including this latest one entitled "Dawson's Kid."
Jonathan and BNS producer Toby Sowers provided this summary of the project's unique production approach:
Gatorade - A Fit Day - (2011) :30 (USA)
"Check out my biceps, get caught..." I have a cameo in this ad, as the neighbor with the alarm clock. Yes. I'm that lazy.
Old Spice - Fabio / Hair - (2011) :30 (USA)
Or rather, haaaaaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiirrrrrrrrrr.
Old Spice - Fabio / Piano - (2011) :30 (USA)
All the ladies in the house and on the phone say: "Yes"
Summers Eve - Hail to the V - (2011)
Seems quite a few people don't like this ad, example work that matters doesn't like the campaign at all, but it had me laughing. And hey, I have a V.
Coppertone - I Love - (2011) :15 (US)
When Face The Music was recently tapped by Euro RSCG Tonic to compose and arrange all the music for a new Coppertone campaign, they faced quite a challenge.
The job of creating the music for the initial two spots - I Love and Sport - came to Face The Music through Euro's CD John Rea, an accomplished musician with a rich history of both writing and playing his own work. "It's always an exciting experience working with someone like John," says Face The Music's EP and co-owner Joe Sicurella. "We were tuned into his impressive background in music and that kind of unique awareness with which he approaches projects. This made the collaboration a joy for us and most importantly, the client."
"We've teamed up with Face The Music numerous times over the years, spanning back to our days working on Coca-Cola," says John Rea. "Our work together always has an organic quality to it, founded on a mutual respect for music."
Dove - Friends / What do you love about your body? - (2011) :90
Dove talked to women on the street and asked them "What do you love about your body?". Turns out no woman can answer that about herself, but they have no problem pointing out the beauty they see in their friends.
Asan triple shower gel - Shower like a man - (2011) :30 (Norway)
I can't name what my favorite thing is about this ad, the jab at the silly fluffy showergels ads talking about aromatherapy, the extended view of a naked guys ass, or the frank truth of what it really looks like when men (and women) actually shower. This is what it's really like mate, not so ad-pretty but it gets you clean. Oh, you missed some lint in that navel by the way.
Band-Aid - "Winning hurts" - print, Brazil
Well hello there simple visual solution that says it all and I have never seen before. I really fancy you. Well done JWT Sao Paulo.
Tag: Winning hurts.
And it does, too. We know this.
