Apart from the opening shot, the effects in this commercial were achieved entirely in camera. The idea of potatoes traveling together as a herd was tested in many different ways before we settled on the idea of -many people with many buckets - to achieve the rolling potato effect. This was all well and good until we realized that, after rolling four tons of potatoes down the biggest hill on the farm we were shooting at, someone had to collect the potatoes after the shoot.
