For its innovative NASCAR promotional campaign, Fox Sports tapped the creative and production team at Engine Room to create a series of comic book style graphic vignettes recapping the thrills, spills and upsets from each week’s race. The project began with Dan Schmit and Engine Room's shooting unit traveling to the legendary Daytona Raceway to film the competing NASCAR drivers from which to create their comic book alter egos. With these key assets in place, the Engine Room design team defined the look of the Fox Sports/NASCAR motion comic, with an appropriately high intensity color palette. Each week throughout the season Engine Room will create a :30 second comic recap tease as an introduction to the upcoming NASCAR race.

PUMA wants you, dear After Hours Athlete. Yes, you, you count as an athlete even if you don't count calories. You, the tireless foosballer, the dart player, the ping-pong king, the bowling alley-rat, the person who only runs when it is after a taxi. "Because we know it takes just as much effort to score a phone number as it does to score a goal."
Of course there's a sub-site to go with it: puma.com/social - why they insisted on such a weird soundeffect on the VO, we don't know.
Sporting apparel innovator Russell Athletic® is debuting a new creative campaign by agency The Richards Group that kicks off with a TV commercial directed by Jeff Bednarz. The spot, “Style Points,” features real athletes and supports the launch of Russell Athletic’s moisture-wicking Dri-Power® line. The spot broke last night during the Little League World Series on ESPN and will air nationally throughout 2011.
“Style Points,” begins with the phrase, “Style points don’t show up in the box score,” and highlights the work, pride, blood and tears that shape an athlete. The imagery unfolds in lush detail with high-speed motion photography interwoven with 16 mm footage for a rich, organic quality and a nod to sporting provenance.
