Yahoo - Obituary for Australian Cricket / Ashes - print UK

If you've been hiding under a rock lately (or avoiding everything adlandsuit has tweeted - hehe) you might have missed that there has been cricket going on. Nick Burcher found a bunch of Ashes cricket ads in the UK press this morning with this obit style ad from Yahoo, declaring the death of Australian cricket. I haven't paid any attention to the games, but I think that's a response to the cocky SBS / Ashes truck ads.

Adidas - Together as one / Parade - Guerrilla, China

OMG! Watch out! It's the eight-headed man! TBWA\TEQUILA in Hong Kong created this kind of creepy "as one" shirt that engulfed an entire team, it was eight jerseys stitched together so that the standing shoulder to shoulder idea was dramatized quite literally. The two teams then "paraded" in two of the highest trafficked pedestrian streets in Hong Kong, and got a lot of press attention.

Adidas - Impossible Jerseys - print, China

As the text on this image explains, the impossible Jerseys were given away with magazines in Hong kong an idea conceived by TBWA\TEQUILA\ Hong Kong:

In late 2007, Adidas briefed TBWA/TEQUILA Hong Kong to excite football fans about the new collection of 2008 adidas Federation Jerseys.
So we decided to recreate autographed jerseys, fold them and place them as cover inserts into Hong Kong’s number one selling youth magazine, MILK.
So overnight, stacks of adidas Federation Jerseys appeared on Hong Kong’s newsstands.
Fans would find France, Argentina, Germany and Spain and every single one was autographed.
It was the first time any magazine had been used to sell apparel in this way.

Adidas - All Blacks "this is not a Jersey" - print and online campaign, New Zealand

Is this a first in advertising? Nanotechnology used to engrave names of fans into the threads of All Blacks Adidas Jerseys? Seriously - nanotechnology!

I'll let TBWA\WHYBIN explain:

Here is the latest work from our office in New Zealand for adidas and the All Blacks. This year we are going to engrave the names of thousands of fans onto the actual thread that makes the All Blacks jersey, with ‘AdiThread’.

All is revealed on www.thisisnotajersey.com.

The Fibre Imprinting Nanotechnology was developed by Professor Richard Blaikie of the University of Canterbury and the MacDiarmid Institute of Advanced Materials and Nanotechnology. The technology has been commercialized by Canterprise Limited, the Commercialization and Technology Transfer Company of the University of Canterbury. Canterprise CEO, Raiyo Nariman says “Adi Thread demonstrates how state of the art technology coming out of the University can be incorporated into innovative applications in fields outside technology-based products”.

Attached is an image from a test run of an actual thread with the names of 1073 All Blacks on it.
