Nice, simple interactive print from Helsinki's 358 to demonstrate the physical changes that occur after years of smoking. Yikes.
In 2008, Helsinki based Agency 358 launched Burn! A youth-oritented magazine anti-smoking campaign for the Cancer Society of Finland. Since then, 750 000 copies have been printed and handed out in schools, shopping centers and events.
Their latest sport-oriented issue decided to try a different take from the usual morbid "you'll get cancer and a host of other problems" tactic, choosing instead to focus on the positive attributes of not smoking. Because let's face it. You're not going to be an athlete or even stay active with those ciggies burning between your fingers.
Drive safe and nice, everybody. Otherwise, you might have an ugly emoticon hanging over your head.
If you have even glanced at the news, or twitter, you may have noticed that India has a bit of a rape problem, as there's been nightmarish cases and loud demonstrations of support for victims. But that's not all, the AIB 365 sketch show explains: "Every sexual assault case in India inspires a string of stupid and hateful remarks against women. This is our response to those remarks."
The Polish Red Cross wants to increase donations, and have introduced "very good manners" at participating restaurants. Instead of simply laying your fork and knife to the right to signal you're done with your food, you can lay your cutlery like a cross, saying that you're done with your food and you wish to add % to the bill that will be donated to the red cross.
A young lady is on her way ion to the OB/GYN for her checkup. The paranoia begins with the opening shot, as it's seen through several CCTVs. All the awkward is added by a backward gown, those stirrups, and then suddenly....
Oh yeah, there's a creepy Uncle Sam masked guy all up in her business, quite literally.
To make matters worse, he snaps the speculum. We all hate the speculum. (Ladies, do your pap smear anyway.)
A young man goes for his checkup, and just like the Opt Out ladies version at the OB/GYN, this opens with the CCTV shot implying that you are being spied on. (You are, by the way.)
BBH London, you can do no wrong right now. In another ad expertly directed by Blink, St. John Ambulance calls everyone to learn first aid. The scenario, a woman doing dishes and looking out the window. A father playing ball with his son outside, so familiar, so normal, so perfectly dangerous. When the father momentarily gets caught up in a phone call, the boy climbs a very high tree and that's when disaster strikes. The twist is; you should learn first aid, because you might be the only person around that can help.
WWF Canada brings us an übercute animation of farm and woodland animals being dragged away by giant nets, destroying forests and anything else along the way in the process. The moral of the story of course is that this isn't how we get land-animals to our plates, so we shouldn't be doing it to the sea either.
As you may already know, the Swedish gay pride people aren't pleased at all with the Russian anti-gay laws. Someone painted a rainbow crossing outside of Russian Embassy in Stockholm in protest, and now M&C Saatchi comes with this pretty poster contribution. I guess if Stockholm pride parties hard enough, Moscow will notice.
Hand a terrible tarnished brand like PETA over to UK ad legend who filmed that famous British Airways ad with the giant ear in Utah and you get... Surprise! Not sexist crapola and cheap-o stunt, but something that actually can change consumer behavior. Shocker.
Instead of depicting animals skinned alive, they Ogilvy wanted to explain "fur hurts" n much more tactile way. In a way that would initially drwa the consumers in to the beauty.
If you're just visiting us from another planet, the shooting of Trayvon Martin is the famous case recreated in this PSA. The rain, the 911 calls, the dark streets and the hoodie are all there, until the end when the camera pans out to reveal the twist.
As the cane appears on various websites. attempting to find its way around in the dark, the copy reads:
For you, it’s easy to escape the darkness. For some people, it is impossible. Donate to support the purchase of guide dogs for blind people.
Education Achievement Authority schools help kids in Michigan (and especially Detroit) catch up to their peers. The goal of the campaign is to retain their current students and also show parents that the EAA has a student-centered approach to learning. Watching the animation come to life, showing the kids what they can be, it comes through for sure.
Maurie Enochson, EP at Buck in LA: "We were asked to design and animate two PSAs for California's seasonal Flex Alert energy conservation campaign that would be entertaining as well as informative.
"The main creative challenges were creating a visual style that would be broad enough for the audience, and also creative and interesting enough to grab and keep people's attention over multiple viewings."
I think you guys did rather well, the look is fresh while at the same time being a retro in a 70s & Paul Rand sort of way, and the seamless switching between scenes is lovely. Currently on air in the whole state on local channels.
"The Pee Analyzer" from DDB Group Singapore remind me of the McFarland Beer Pissalyzer , which might not have been as hight tech, but it was telling people to cab it in May 2011.
Still, DDB Group went so far as to connect the pee-er to the RFID car key-tag, and measured the alcohol content in the urine at the urinals. When someone who tested as "too tipsy; should taxi" arrived at the valet to get their car, the RFID tag would remember and flash red: this person should use a car service.
This piss test was so successful in preventing drunk driving that the system now rolls out in bars and clubs all over Singapore.
Stimmung soundlikes "Man on Fire" by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, as the soundtrack to our ambitious bottle wandering across the vast United States. The bottle has dreams, see. The bottle wants to see the ocean. The bottle isn't just a piece of trash.
With your help, the bottle will see the ocean, and not in that Great Pacific Garbage Patch plastic island kind of way. Cute story, bro.
When I was a kid Smokey The Bear (it was Smokey The Bear, before he dropped his middle name) was an animated character who used drama to warn us that only we have the power to save his beloved forest. He was like some mystical bad ass creature who pretty much laid down the law. And I have no doubt even if you did follow the forest fire prevention rules he might just have decided to eat you on the spot anyway. Because he was a bear.
Now, Smokey Bear seems like he's gone to sensitivity training school. Instead of stern fire and brimstone warnings, he spends his days handing out hugs to hipsters who look like the closest thing they ever gotten to camping is when they browse Huckberry's website on their iPads.
Late last month, some visitors to Lake Huron were greeted to 2000 messages-in-bottles "washed" ashore. These messages were from the lake, to the people, telling them to take action. See the lake levels are dropping. And non-profit organization Stop The Drop, wants us to help.
Although I'm not exactly sure how to help. Even after watching the case study the only thing I know is that the lake levels are dropping. I don't know why. Judging by the lack of information on their website, they're as in the dark as I am.
Going to the Stop The Drop site offers no clues.
Take an excerpt from the "About Us" section:
Smoking changes you. And it makes you listen to music that sounds like the soundtrack to a Wachowski Brothers movie.
This effort comes from our Finnish friends, 358 Helsinki, who also worked to create a new curriculum around the issue last year.
