TGV / SNCF Group - Take a look at Brussels - (2012)

How do you announce that with the TGV you can travel non-stop from Lyon's to Brussels? Why not invite the people of Lyon, one person at a time? On the morning of September 21th, Lyon woke up to find a 3 meter high cube in Place de la République. The cubes had little face-sized holes in them. Underneath the simple hole the message read "Take a look at Brussels". Many curious person had to poke their head in it.

During two days, hundreds of inhabitants of Lyon got caught up by their curiosity, and to their surprise, found themselves thrown into Brussels. Yes! The inhabitants of Lyon were received live from Mont des Arts by the mayor of Brussels, his official band and the people from Brussels, faithful with the reputation of Belgian hospitality. Tres bizarre!

The Feel Bad Four - James Corden - UK

Just ahead of October 11th's World Sight Day, Rankin and James Corden take the piss out of charity spots, to create an effective charity spot for Sightsavers .

Sightsavers are a charity that works to fight and prevent blindness in developing countries. They wanted people to know it really doesn't cost a lot to prevent or treat blindness. Unlike most PSA's, they decided to go the comedy route.

It opens with James Corden looking at a T-shirt with a Sightsavers logo on it and asking "have you got one that doesn't say Sightsavers?" before tossing it off camera with a dismissal.

Expedia - Find Your Understanding - Wedding - (2012)

Oy, we're a bit heavy on the violins here Expedia... But then again, it is a wedding and swelling violins are as much part of that as kleenex and white dresses. The journey here is taken by the father Artie Goldstein, who has to come to terms with the fact that his daughter is marrying another woman. The cold hearted cynic in me is gruffing that of course the gay couple depicted are two gorgeous women, instead of two men with an age-difference, while the romantic zap in me is grasping for kleenex at daddy's speech. Hush! Now lets cut the cake.

This is part of Expedia's campaign "find yours", emphasizing the journeys we take when we travel. We know how to book a flight, but the old tagline "Where you book matters" doesn't matter anymore.

Spinfy - Making kids read again - (2012)

Spinfy have figured out how to jam magical fairy tales into apps that will spellbind kids and make them want to read. That's a neat hack, that. They do all this from a gravel pit in Finland, apparently. Once inside the teeny cabin you'll find every fairy tale joke you can muster deadpanned, a team of animators dressed like santas helpers, and even grandma.

Going hiking, biking, canoeing, or camping this fall? If so, you’ll want to head straight to New York State after checking out a pair of Empire State Development spots produced by Elastic Director Andy Hall and edited by Rock Paper Scissors Editor Gabriel Britz via BBDO NY. Hall captured the essence of NY, illustrating everything from high-altitude nature panoramas to close-ups of leisurely family horseback rides. Britz then smartly, spliced the whole thing together into the high-energy final clip, which includes several shots that merge live-action with animated depictions of recreational activities. This is the second round of spots in the campaign for Hall.

Southwest Airlines “Challenge/Bags Fly Free” - (2012) :30 (USA)

So flying i the US these days is like being on a nutty Japanese game-show. Yeah, that seems about right.

"Southwest Airlines’ flier-friendly policies always win in the competition-themed “Challenge” ad campaign directed by biscuit filmworks’ Mike Maguire via GSD&M. Using relatable humor, each of the seven spots play like clips from an over-the-top, hypothetical hit game show, “The Business Travel Challenge,” and feature different obstacle course competitions to metaphorically represent the various challenges of flying.
