This year, the well-known, industry event known as CLIO Awards, has really amped up their offerings.
This year, they kicked off promoting their 2011 show, scheduled for Thurs., May 19, 2011 in New York City, with an active Twitter(http://www.twitter.com/clioawards) and Facebook community (https://www.facebook.com/#!/CLIOAwards).
The promotion started off with CLIO Awards releasing photos of the people behind the judging process -- a well executed move on their part. C'mon, who wouldn't want to know who is judging their work? The social media managers for CLIO made sure the fans and followers were constantly updated.

On top of that--- CLIO Awards has a Sweet Truck roaming around Manhattan! Ad execs can get a free treat in exchange for their business cards. Simple advertising, yet effective. Check out their facebook for a full schedule.
Marketing gimmicks aside, their efforts are actually useful. I was never a fan of award shows but I have to say, they definitely caught my eye.
