CYCHO - Film & Animation in Sydney, Australia have sent in a spot for Fun Nuggets is a TV & Cinema commercial for Pure Foods, a major food manufacturer in the Philippines. The finished result was a finalist in the recent Australian Animation & Effects Awards, in the Animated Commercial category.

The commercial uses the techniques of digital stop-motion animation combined with 3D CGI. Great care was taken with the design and construction of the chicken stop-motion puppets. We wanted to achieve a very clean asian/anime look to the chickens, to appeal to the Philippino audience. The stop-motion animation was composited over backgrounds created in Lightwave 3D. As some shots contained over a dozen hero characters, complex layering was required in After Effects. The final render was at 1080 resolution for transfer to HD & 35mm.
