Volkswagen produced two phat series of commercials promoting the new GTI Mk V.

One is based on "The Fast" - "Inside most, but not all of us there is a fast". watch www.projectfast.com to find out what "The Fast" really is. The four nice clips can be found here, and naturally here in the archive: Volkswagen GTI - Fast - Delivery, Volkswagen GTI - Fast - Problem, Volkswagen GTI - Fast - Hair, Volkswagen GTI - Fast - Light.

The second series is starring some cool guys with their pimped up cars. I really like their kind of humour and these clips are definitely worth a look. This series of clips can be found at YouTube and here in the commercial archive, clip links inside.

"The Fast comes standard [...] Pre-tuned by german engineers."

Triva: Peter Stormare comes from Sweden (the north of SWeden even), but is most likely cast as a german engineer for his part as the nihilistic kraftwerk-copy band member in "The Big Lebowski".
Another swede in da house - the director Jonas

I much prefer this campaign to the "fast" creature crap. What say you?

netzkobold - you seem to be located in Germany so I'll guess that you're German. Is it just as funny to you when Swedish Peter Stormare does his "crazy German" type that he perfected in the Big Lebowski? (he did a similar crazy Doctor in the minority report but spoke only Swedish withe his nurse, so I think that was his "crazy Swedish Doctor" type. The difference is minimal though.)

Don't get me wrong, these are far better than the "fast," but isn't it a little gimmicky to play off the "Pimp My Ride" wave. It' seems a bit late in the game.

Love the V-Dub gang sign, though. Throw it up!

I know what you mean about all those pimp this and that - so I kinda saw this as the final bullet-to-the-head that will end all pimping. Because it de-pimps. It kills the pimp!

Which is one of the only reasons it's not drek. ;) Well, that and the way it pays homage to the VW roots in a fun way.
