Audi (Spec) - "Tango" - (2013) :30 (USA)
LOS ANGELES—The grace, speed and agility of Audi A7 and A8 sedans are compared to a pair of sensual dancers in a new spec spot directed by Maz Makhani and produced by A Common Thread.
In the spot, two Audis, one black, one white, race across a flat expanse of the California desert, leaving billowy dust clouds as they cut through the sand. Out near the horizon, a man and a woman, also arrayed in black and white, engage in an erotic, tango-like pas de deux, mimicking the swift, bold arcs made by the cars. The editorial pace quickens as the cars weave an ever tightening circle around the couple and their dance reaches its final flourish.
Kilbeggan Whiskey. "Tight knit" (2013) :30 (U.S.A.)
Here's the thing. The Irish are very unhappy that Kilbeggan's Whiskey is now across the pond. But they're a charming lovely sort. So they know how to cope with losing Ireland's best kept secret. They cope by knitting.
I initially thought the premise was something along the lines of we Yanks love the stuff so much there's none left in Ireland. But apparently just the thought of us drinking it down is enough to send them into OCD level state of coping.
Shiner Premium - Not New. Not Improved - print, USA
Bringing back the old-skool beers? i like it. Headline: "Not New. Not Improved." - to the point. But why are we doing this? Because Shiner Blonde has its original name back – Shiner Premium. Aaaah.. *wipes mouth*. What?
NBA - "Brandon and Monta" - (2013) :30 (USA)
The latest NBA BIG commercial "Brandon and Monta" is an amusing take on the friendship of Milwaukee Bucks' players Brandon Jennings and Monta Ellis. Spoofing another favorite Milwaukee pair, Laverne and Shirley, the ad highlights the success these two star players have built for the Bucks through their incredible team work.
The spot, out of Goodby Silverstein & Partners, was edited by Matt Murphy of Final Cut. Focusing on the lighthearted moments between the players, Murphy was able to create a buddy film, worthy of referencing a 70's classic.
Kindle Paperwhite - "Perfect at the Beach" / Husbands - (2013) :30 (USA)
So she has a Kindle and can read in bright sunlight, he doesn't have a Kindle and can not. But seeing hers and how well it works, he is convinced to buy one. "Lets celebrate!" "Sure, my husband is bringing me a drink." "So is mine!" - oh, wait, I see, the funny here is that she might have assumed this man was hitting on her with the celebrate proposal? How daring! That's not the funny? No? Then you lost me, where's the twist?
Taco Bell - Cool Ranch Doritos Loco Taco / HELLO - (2013) :30 (USA)
Taco Bell’s Cool Ranch Doritos Loco Taco launch has "Hello" by Lionel Ritchie, except sung in Spanish, and a dude at a rainy bus stop trying to create his dream taco. This ad made me cry.
White House Black Market - Workkit / The heart of work wear - (2013)
Coco Rocha demonstrates that she knows all her angles and can look fantastic in anything, with a wink in this ad shot by Ellen von Unwerth under the creative direction of Ucef Hanjani at ceft and company
GEICO - Maxwell the Pig Goes on a Date / parks (2013) :30 (USA)
So Maxwell the pig (as in the one who yelled WEE WEE WEE all the way home) is on a date, and parked... because the car broke down... and his lady hopes this might mean steaming windows.....
Alas, Maxwell is a pig but not that kind of pig so he suggests they lay games on his smartphone instead of the back seat. This would be just your regular ad if it wasn't for the fact that one million moms claims it promotes bestiality.
California Lucky for Life Scratchers - Tommy - (2013) :30 (USA)
A ventriloquist and his dummy, Tommy, are daydreaming while scratching their California Lucky for Life Scratchers. Yep, if they win they'll be finding a girl ventriloquist riding on an ATV with her dummy alongside them, into the sunset. Ho-kay. I suppose there are silier things to do with your money.
Apple / iPad - "Hollywood "- (2013) :30 (USA)
Apple brings us yet another riveting product demonstration zzzzzz .. oh and it's "Hollywood" because it was aired for the first time during the Oscars.
Google Chromebook Pixel - For What's Next - (2013) :30 (USA)
Move over Apple, you have competition. Oh, not in the ads so simple they basically say nothing at all while drooling over the pretty laptop/ipad/widget on a white background, as this makes the mistake of having talking heads in it. But in the pretty and oooooh-department of laptops, you have competition. Sell Apple stock right this minute. Droolworthy, isn't it? I want one. (My birthday is in June kthx)
Real Hawaii - North shore / Deep blue sea (2013) :30 (USA)

Made in a Free World: "I'm with Lincoln" (2013) 2:00 (U.S.A.)
Did you know slavery is a huge problem globally? Did you know the movie Lincoln is up for an Oscar? Did you know Lincoln is to advertising what Women Laughing Alone While Eating Salad is to stock photography?
I dunno, man. On paper, I'm with Lincoln is a nice start. In practice it's another piece of slacktivism.
Here's what I mean:
#imwithlincoln
STORY’s Blair Hayes Captures the Real Hawaii in New Tourism Campaign
STORY’s Blair Hayes has directed a new series of ads for the Hawaii Visitors and Convention Bureau that reveal the island paradise from an unusual point of view: a visitor’s. Conceived by Honolulu agency MVNP, the spots avoid the expected and stereotypical imagery that's often featured in travel advertising and instead seek to capture the essence of what it’s actually like to be there. Shot in as loose, improvisatory manner, the spots have the warmth of a home movie and focus on what an island vacation is really all about: having fun.
Comcast Discovery - Dish
Isolated from the rest of the world, these people still use dishes.
Free Speech For People - Your Logo Here - (2013) :30 (USA)
Ad agency WDCW recently created and executed the “Your Logo Here” commercial for Free Speech For People, a national non-partisan organization working to overturn the 2010 Supreme Court ruling in Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission allowing unrestricted political expenditures by corporations.
Crown Royal "Angel" (2013) :30 (U.S.A.)
An angel pops out of a Crown Royal bag and gives a designated driver a sultry look and a halo crown because he's drinking a pitcher of water instead of knocking back doubles.
He may be a designated driver and all, but that doesn't mean he won't be stopping for frequent bathroom trips. The whole "drink half your body weight in ounces of water," is a myth. I'm just sayin' dude. Calm down. And reign on.
Crown Royal "Lion" (2013) :30 (U.S.A.)
No, not Snoop Lion but a regular lion comes out of a Crown Royal bag and walks around a bar table top. Oh I get it. King of the jungle. Right On. Reign on.
Crown Royal "Dr. J" (2013) :30 (U.S.A.)
Dr. J. emerges from the iconic Crown Royal bag and then...orders himself a Crown Royal?
Reign On.
Grey Poupon - The Lost Footage Trailer - (2013) :30 (USA)
CP+B just dug up some old footage and discovered that the story didn't end after the "pardon me, do you have any Grey Poupon?" Nope. Obviously we can't let that man simply drive off with the precious yellow Grey Poupon.
Now, this is just a thirty second teaser, the film will be available on http://greypouponchase.com/ in 4 days - because the Oscars are boring and you will want to force-interrupt that by seeking out an actual commercial. Or so goes the logic?
