Owens Corning - Glass House (1979) - 0:30 (USA)
OMG they made a house out of glass. Quick, get me a rock!
Eveready - Robert Conrad (1979) - 0:30 (USA)
Remember Eveready batteries? Neither do I. I think the bunny killed them.
Johnson - Peace little girl / Daisy girl - (1964) .60 (USA)
This ad known as "Daisy Girl", ran only once as a paid advertisement, during an NBC broadcast of Monday Night at the Movies on September 7, 1964. In it a little girl counts the petals of a flower, and as we zoom in to her eye a nuclear explosion is superimposed. This is cited as the first example of negative political advertising, a.k.a scare-tactics.
Johnson VO: "These are the stakes: To make a world in which all of God's children can live, or to go into the darkness. We must either love each other, or we must die. "
Tag VO: Vote for President Johnson on November 3rd. The stakes are too high for you to stay home.
Bob Fosse - DANCIN' - the musical - (1978) :60 (USA)
Dancin' is a musical revue first produced in 1978, directed and choreographed by Bob Fosse, who won a Tony Award for the choreography. The show is a tribute to the art of dance, and the music is a collection of mostly American songs, many with a dance theme from a wide variety of styles, from operetta to jazz to classical to marches to pop. Or as the VO says in the commercials: "We got spins, leaps, jumps, cartwheels and other incredible body-gyrations that I'm not allowed to mention on television."
Atari - Don't watch TV, play it - (1978) :30 (USA)
Play games on your TV such as Baseball and Breakaway! Pete Rose is beaten by Atari. Like Woah.
Budweiser - Ed McMahon & Talking Clydesdales / Half-pint (1978) :30 (USA)
Ed McMahon and the talking Clydesdales introduce the "half pint" 8oz cans.
Underoos - Star Wars Underoos! - (1977) . (USA)
Ha! When the little girl bends to pet R2D2 and he makes that sound. Yep, accidental fart-comedy-effect. Classic.
Golden Grahams - Oh those Golden Grahams - (1977) :30 (USA)
I don't know if it was the silouette of Grahams pouring into a bowl with the sun behind it, or the annoyingly catchy jingle - all I know is that I begged mom for this stuff and only got it on special occasions because it was chock-full of sugar. My favorite cereal by far when I was a kid.
Stovetop Stuffing - Pork Stuffing as seen on TV - (1976) :30 (USA)
It's the prototype of doofus-dad, as this oneis tempted by a TV commercial for food that his missus is already making in the nearby kitchen.
Faberge Shampoo - Farrah Fawcett Shampoo - (1976)
Farrah takes her bike for a ride (through the bridges of madison county?) and looks fabulous as always.
7up "Uncola with food" (1976) :30 (U.S.A.)
Imagine-- a soda with a reason to drink it: Because it pairs with food well. Crazy.
