Pepsi MAX - Jeff Gordon - Test Drive (2013) 3:45 (USA)

Overheard at the town square of hip California ad agency offices: "Guys, guys, remember when old "Uncle Drew" joined a game and it turned out he was Kyrie Irving in disguise? Yeah? Was that us?" "No man that was Charlie Brown or something, some PR, something." "You mean Davie Brown Entertainment?" "Yeah, them. Why didn't we do that?"

Chocolate Bar "Restore The Store" 1:20 (U.S.A.)

Chocolate Bar is opening in Manasquan, New Jersey, which is the worst place hit by Hurricane Sandy. Noble, yes.

I guess there was no better way to announce it than using someone's kid from tap class to star in it for the promise (I imagine) of free chocolate. Yes it's poorly edited. Yes the music is annoying. Yes it still feels so local, in a "c'mon down to Bob's Ford in Zelienople," kind of way.

But...I mean, if they had added some random industrial white noise filmed it in black and white and maybe had a cameo by Kyle MacLachlan it would have passed for a David Lynch directed affair.

Pity they didn't. It's nice they want to do something for the area. But objectively speaking though, it still doesn't make the ad very good.

FlyFrontier- Secret - (2013) :30 (USA)

Flyfrontier debuted last night with this spot, titled "secret", where none of the animals can keep one, and the spot where the rabbit says Florida far too often. These ads will appear online and in cinemas in the Trenton region.

Frontier is expanding to the East Coast via Trenton Airport. To raise awareness about this, they launched a multi-media campaign with Transit Posters, OOH boards, Bus Wraps, Digital Ads, Print ads and these TV spots. Keeping the branding front and center, the airplanes tail-animals are the ones who carry the scripts.

When I got to chez Kidsleepy this evening from a long days work I checked the mail, and found this little mailer, warning me to not send money in the mail to foreign lotteries because they are a scam.
And by "warning me," I don't mean me but old folks. You can tell because the message is sponsored by the Old Folks Lobbyists, AARP.

I get it. Scamming is serious and for realsies. But wowzers, the back copy is so hilariously over the top, parts of it are written like a Cold War era relic:

You're told to mail or wire a small amount for taxes and fees to claim your prize.
What should you do? Hang up the phone! Ignore the email!

You just know the copywriter wanted to add extra exclamation points to each sentence. I can feel it.

Ah yes. It is brilliant... That app. That light. That widget. That interaction. And we hear so is the retina display. You can't wear it though, like you can with Google glass, so pardon us if the enthusiasm is a little dampened here.

Google - How It Feels [through Glass] - (2013)

"How it feels" shows us just how simple using the soon-to-be-released Google Glass is. TRES SIMPLE, and now we are forever unchained from our desks, handhelds and phones and can just continue with all that skydiving and flying and acrobatics we used to do before we became internet-hermits, while simultaneously sharing all this is G+, in hangouts, on youtube, all over the web. Look ma, no hands!

Oh yeah, big brother can see you and you're helping him too because omg squueee gadget. They'll be a little expensive to start, but woah, we are now living in the future. You must admit this looks hella cool.

Think of the NCAA as a marching band. No wait, don't think of them as a marching band. Think of them as a cheering squad.

How about we just think of the NCAA as something that makes students uncomfortable. Because all I see in this spot are uncomfortable students.

NCAA - Think of Us / Spirit squad (2013) :30 (USA)

Think of the NCAA as a spirit squad. Which is not to be confused with a spirit animal.

Heineken - Déjà Vu - (2013) :90 (USA)

In swanky night clubs all over the world, a man makes an entrance, and smooth as that guy on the date he soon realises that there's a pattern to the ladies who are attracted to him. Armed by this déjà vu knowledge, our hero can now turne the tables quite literally, and throw dancers on his pursuers the next time it happens. Think of it as a sexy groundhog day except he doesn't want to get into Andie MacDowell's pants, just all the mobsters girls.

Bob Woodruff Foundation - Remind - (2013) :30 (USA)

LOS ANGELES—The work of the nonprofit Bob Woodruff Foundation in helping injured soldiers reintegrate into American society is the subject of a powerful new documentary short and public service ad, produced by A Common Thread and directed by Kenny Stoff.

Gatorade "Lightning Bolt." (2013) 1:00 (U.S.A.)

In which Gatorade congratulates itself for being a product that does what it its supposed to do.

I wonder which came first, the concept for the spot, or the song?

Taco Bell "The World's Most Obvious Idea" (2013) :30 (U.S.A.)

And now we present: The World's Most Obvious Idea. Wait. Did you mean the Cool Ranch Taco for Taco Bell? My bad. I thought you meant the spot.

Smart car run with pigeon poop joke in case study.

Smart car responded to Clayton's tweetjoke with a neat infographic about bird poop, and we applauded how faboo their attitude was, as they took a joke and ran with it. "Outsmarted by a smart car" as Clay put it. Smart cars social media presence is very good worldwide, they did do the first ASCII animated twitter page too.

Elevator Murder Experiment - viral stunt for Dead Man Down

How do you shill a film called "Dead Man Down"? Easy, arrange an attempted murder in an elevator and have people witness it. Film them with hidden cameras as they scuttle away, dial 911 and walk off muttering "sod it, I'll take the stairs". If this isn't staged all the way through, it's a miracle nobody shot the attacker, there are still a select few people that are allowed concealed carry in New York. What if they had run into Robert De Niro, Harvey Keitel or Donald Trumps and his sons?
