We don't appreciate those who wish to promote home loans, libido rapido stuff and whatever else link-spammers are shilling these days. Our policy is to delete the comments and users who engage in such behavior, as well as ban their IP#. We do this on the first offense or immediately if the user looks shady (there are only so many 3D animators in the world.)

We can tell the difference between someone who is adding a link relevant to the thread/discussion and those who are not. As a legit adgrunt, don't be afraid to link things, even your own blog or portfolio or twitter-account in comments where it's relevant. Keep where it's relevant in mind, adding your twitter-link to every comment you make is rather tacky. We can find all your information on your profile page, and so can google.

This will send red flags to us as we have a well-trained spam-bot watching the users here;

  • Spamming. - Do'h. Anyone who places irrelevant links in comments is insta-banned. This includes simply registering an account, just to add your viagrapokerbankloanrealestate-site to the bio or link area. If your business is not related to advertising, don't list your site. Schools that teach advertising/marketing, post houses, PR people, ad agencies, fellow ad blogs, creatives portfolios or personal sites, actors sites, linkedin profiles etc are expected here and their accounts stay.
  • Throwaway / Ten minute email accounts. A spammers favorite tool. Thus throw-away email accounts send red flags to us.
  • Bit.ly , Tinyurl or other shortened links will be deleted or changed. This isn't twitter, your full link fits in a comment. If your link is relevant, we'll just change it to the destination link. If it is not, we'll just delete it. Why the aversion to bit.ly and other shortened links? Link-rot. These links may not always be pointing to your page. In fact it's a common tactic for spammers to use this as a bait-and-switch - they start out as innocent links and are later changed to a libidorapido-type spam thing. Thus, they are setting off spam-alarms here. Usually, these spam-alarms are right.
