Wild Beasts - Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants - (2008) 4:02 (UK)

Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants, released on October 13th, is the second single to be taken from Wild Beasts’ debut album Limbo, Panto (available now). I think I'm love with that neat lilting thing the singer does.
This music promo Directed by OneInThree for Wild Beasts is a mesmerising & hypnotic tour de force. It pioneers an amazing mind bending visual technique called the 'Droste Effect' which is based on an uncompleted lithograph that Escher made in 1956. The maths behind the lithograph was so complicated that Escher was unable to finish the centre of the lithograph and so left it blank. OneInThree developed Josh Sommers' technique so that it could be applied to moving images and apart from a grade & online at The Mill did all the VFX themselves.

Those who remember the Huggies Geyser commercial might enjoy this behind-the-scenes viral shot by Hungry Man New York. "Inside the diaper" is not complete without that Inside edition type voice-over - and some terrible puns like "Wiz kid" and "golden moments". Still that baby is seriously cute, albeit redcheeked after hanging out under the bright lights for a few takes.

Xbox - Rendezvous with Death in Gears of War - (2008) :60 (USA)

From director Joseph Kosinski of Anonymous Content, T.A.G. SF, and Venice-based Digital Domain comes Rendezvous, the new trailer for the Xbox 360 blockbuster game, Gears of War 2. Looks like XBox is aiming for a second shot at the Grand Prix's of all ad award shows. ;)

The narration is an adapted version of the famous poem of the same name by Alan Seeger (1888-1916), a Harvard educated American who joined the French Foreign Legion in 1914 and fought for the Allies during WWI. He was killed in action by machine-gun fire while heroically cheering on his fellow soldiers in the successful assault of Belloy-en-Santerre during the Battle of the Somme.

The Delta Squad are back. Open on soldier Marcus Felix dragging the body of an enemy Locust - a reference to the opening scene of the French movie "Nikita" perhaps? Fellow soldier and best friend Dominic Santiago lays on the floor struggling for survival. Marcus hands Dominic his weapon and continues on his quest for a "Rendezvous with death".
