After seeing Grey Aukland's Cannes award winning ad for No Bugs insect spray, I thought I had seen something very similar before, besides the Gary Larson cartoon. Combing through Luerzer's Archive, I found it. Compare them for yourself.

Coca Cola, the brown bubbly tries very hard each year to beat their Scandinavian arch enemy Julmust in sales, but fail miserably. This year, as always, they're leaving nothing to chance, the old commercial with the coke-trucks coming to town spreading holiday joy is played incessantly on all advertising channels, and Coke's ace card is a newly designed special holiday edition Christmas bottle. Still it's Christmas as usual in Sweden and Coke watches in horror as their market share of sodas drops down to near nothing.

Lowe Bull South Africa has been on an interesting journey in the past few months after the leader of the lowe-pack, Matthew Bull, departed their sunny shores for rainy old London.

Clients, the tradepress, some of Lowe's staff and competitors had their eyes focused intensely on the progress without Matthew - how did Lowe Bull do?

Very well thankyou - raking in the Eagle Awards, one gold for this brilliant pro bono campaign POWA (People Opposing Women Abuse) 'Force', which used the glued-together pages of a men's magazine to illustrate that "if you have to use force, it's rape".

Adland gives Lowe Bull a Gold star for that brilliant piece of print.

Mama Mia that's a ballsy rip-off ...

WE sweden are in trouble for the way they advertise their underwear. While the men's packaging shows a overweight hairy man, the woman's packaging shows a girl's bottom still red after being freshly spanked.
So far six eloquent complaints have been filed with ERK (ethical advisory board in advertising) prompting the company to remove the spanked image. Greger Hagelin, CEO for WE, defends the image with "we're a skater brand, the idea was that the girl might have fallen off a skateboard."

David Bedford who broke the 10,000 meters world record in 1973, reckons the mustache clad running lads in the 118 118 adverts are modeled after him. His solicitors have demanded compensation from The Number for using his likeness in their advertising. The agency creatives on the other hand, claim the runners are modeled after Steve Prefontaine who died in a caraccident in 1975, and that the outfit worn by the two actors is in the style of the Great Britain athletic kit which was used during the seventies.
