Poetica - Poetica - (2012) :208 (US)

Poetica, the hybrid collective of artists and filmmakers that recently launched in New York and Los Angeles, has released a soulful brand film from Director Anthony Furlong. A blend of man-on-the-street-style interviews, performance footage, and confessionals, the poignant film expresses the artistic soul and creativity at the heart of Poetica’s work through the words of artists across New York: dancers, opera singers, boxers, skateboarders, chess players and fashion designers.

“We asked Anthony to create a short film that best exemplifies our brand's culture,” explained Poetica MD Bob Cagliero. “Concepting this film came very naturally to him. It's organic and passionate, yet its story is beautifully embellished, supported by artistic design and visual effects created here at Poetica under Anthony's guidance.”

The film fused Furlong’s discovery of his new city with his passion for work. “I had just moved to New York and I was fascinated by how I instantly felt connected with the people around me,” stated Furlong. “With this in mind, I began speaking with artists throughout the city about this invisible energy. It was a wonderful discovery to find how everyone began speaking of the same feelings so passionately. I had set out to make a film about human connection. What I discovered along the way is that, without being fully aware of it, our passions put us in touch with the experience of being alive. As artists, this passion connects us, and it could possibly be why I feel so connected in my new home.”

Poetica is planning a wide-ranging festival tour for their film, including submissions to Sundance, Telluride and SXSW to name a few.
