This real 3D campaign lead by Mark Figliulio and shot by Mark Zibert will bring forward some familiar faces making waves in diversity for the Ad Color awards, with the tagline: "Color Adds Depth". It also adds funky 3D glasses retro look to famous musicians like Charlie Gabriel of Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson of The Roots, and dancing kings like Harry Shum, Jr. of "GLEE". The 2012 ad color awards are held in VEGAS BABY, ahem, I mean, at the The Bellagio hotel in Las Vegas if you care to join.
While the poster images are proper old school 3D, making me want my 3D glasses to look at them, they aren't meant to be seen in actual 3D. The films make this clear and the red and blue bounce away doing it's own thing while the talented subjects talks about his thing. It's a neat execution, just not quite as powerful in the posters alone. Perhaps because I'd rather see te photograph itself being a little more 3D to bring the depth point home, only the shot of Harry and Charlie are experimenting a little with perspective. We can see bold ladies sitting in chairs for Bloomingdales, folks.
