Dunlop Tyres - Aged James Dean - print, South Africa

Erik Vervroegen, copywriter and Creative Director at TBWA Hunt Lascaris explains that this ad came about after he was inspired by the morphing of Naomi Cambell into 70+ year old woman in Paris Vogue.

"Armed with a black and white image of James Dean, we proceeded to put together this very simple yet striking image. We placed an old man in the car in the same rough position as the image of James Dean, including a cigarette in his mouth. We wanted to shoot this in one take, so we spent the whole day ( Christmas eve ) perfecting the lighting for one take. The ad was never going to have any copy except the logo, so the message had to come across straight away as cleanly and as simply as possible."

The grey hair wrinkles, and James Dean's features were then added to the photo. The end result is a very simple message, what if James Dean had had Dunlop Tyres?
