The Adland HO HO HO Awards

Christmas is the one time of the year that agencies wholeheartedly give themselves over to flagrant self promotion. The infamous ‘agency card’ is no longer a card per se, but anything whatsoever, as long as it gets a few eyeballs and acts as a vehicle to show off your agency’s creativity. But who’s winning the battle of the cards in 2014? It’s the Adland UK ‘Ho Ho Ho’ Awards.

Both Adobe and Blacklist have reason to be proud today, as Blacklist directors DVEIN took home an AICP award in the Design category for their film "Magma" (below).

Barcelona studio Dvein went full surreal with desolate paint flooded landscapes made up of mildly terrifying old man faces. Created for The Vein track “Magma”, the project came to Dvein as a commission from Adobe to create an art piece that would launch their new Creative Cloudsystem.

Oreo Daily twist vs Google daily doodle - only one wins a Cannes Lion

So, still hungover from Cannes, Oreo and DraftFCB are basking in the shine of their glorious Lion win for Oreo Daily Twist, when lady-who-has-real-job™ asks... "How is the Oreo thing any different from the Google doodle?" OH PLEASE! Back off, lady, this area is for professionals in advertising only. Just because you educate the next generation of consumers doesn't mean you have any idea about what makes an ad campaign. Have a seat in that tiny uncomfortable desk over there while I explain.

Dumb ways to die starts winning everything in Cannes.

As predicted Dumb Ways To Die is raking home the lions in Cannes, it took the Grand Prix in the Direct Lions and PR Lions. It also got a nice Gold Lion in the Promo & Activation Lions category. Trust me, it ain't over until the fat fireworks blow up on Saturday, there will be more. How do I know? Have you seen anything else memorable in 2012? That cleaned up at both D&AD and One Show?
