So, I saw this commercial again last night. It*s the one where a group in an xTerra pulls up to a rockface, it*s night time, and they point the lights at the rock, and start climbing. Well, it*s no longer accompanied by the opening bars of "Heroin", it*s now a generic sounding guitar piece. I wonder if there was some negative feedback?Posted: 9 years 44 weeks agoon the post: Nissan Xterra on Heroin

I*ve seen a new Nissan Xterra spot where the soundtrack is the opening bars of "Heroin" by the Velvet Underground. Great song, but kind of a strange association. Wonder if the suits at Nissan know about it? grinPosted: 9 years 50 weeks agoon the post: Nissan Xterra on Heroin

Back in the day, when tobacco ads were the backbone of advertising on TV, many thought that the industry and the medium would not stand the shock of withdrawal. They did, and they will again, as alcohol advertising is phased out. The handwriting is on the wall, it's only a matter of time, insert your cliche here. Wait until a drunk driver kills a legislator's child, and the "official spoonsor of boy's night out" will be as dead as "a thinking man's filter, a smoking man's taste".Posted: 9 years 52 weeks agoon the post: Battling the New Prohibition

William Gibson, author of "Neuromancer" and coiner of "cyberspace" says that the modifier, "cyber-" is becoming as dated as "electro-". When everything is electric, electro- just sounds redundant and silly. Cyber-, in its ubiquity, is getting pretty hackneyed, too.
