I saw this come on TV a couple of nights ago and I must admit it didn't grab me. Maybe it's the music. Maybe it's watching people watch some football guy. I didn't realise at the time that it was Kaka.

There's always window blinds. Just stay inside, keep the house dark, and ignore the world out there.

And what do you know? Cashew oil is the secret!

Nice use of the dark and light motif throughout - the brunette and blonde, the clothes, the record in the jukebox, the glasses and the spectacles.

I must admit when I saw this campaign back in March I was just embarrassed for everyone involved. Clearly it's had an impact, judging by its ubiquitous presence on the internet.

The music for this spot is a remix of "Yama Yama", adapted from Le Monde Fabuleux Des Yamasuki, a pseudo-Japanese concept album produced by French duo Jean Kluger and Daniel Vangarde in 1972. The track, featuring a Japanese choir singing over drum patterns, vibes and fuzz guitar work outs, was part of a cult following dance scene in France in the early 1970s.

Like the Get A Mac series, the McGuinness ads accentuate preconceived biases held by PC and Mac users. But this time he's added in an economic twist (boss vs worker), generational twist (boomer or Gen X vs Gen Y).

Is it too late to consider Duncan's TV Ad Land, www.duncans.tv, for Best Ad Commentary Not From the United States?

Thanks for the mention. When I named Duncan's TV Ad Land in 2003 the phrase 'adland' indeed seemed to be common in the UK advertising world. To provide some differentiation from this site I've separated 'ad' and 'land' - if that's any consolation!

BTW Duncan's TV Ad Land has moved out of blogspot and has been at www.duncans.tv for the last year.
