Adidas - Superstar / 1969 - (2015) :60 (USA)

This year adidas Originals sets out to question what it means to be a superstar, beginning with this film featuring Pharrell Williams, Rita Ora, Damian Lillard and David Beckham who must be in every ad ever, I mean lord does he do anything else? So what does it mean to be a superstar? "If you think a superstar is standing on stage, filling up stadiums, and selling out concert halls" says the guy who does just that, and "being the face, the name, the signature" says the woman who currently is all that, "then I am not a superstar". Ho-kay. Clearly, it means black and white shots under water, cgi-storms, being hated, loved, stalked, none of the above, but most of all it means Adidas fashionable celebrity sellout special branding has arrived on the only Adidas shoe that was still cool to wear. So you should probably throw them away now. Gosh, it's hard balancing on the non-sellout knife edge when you're an actual sellout.

Beautifully shot by director Karim Huu Do and production house Caviar for Johannes Leonardo, the dreamy black and white is making me crave a Guiness. Tick follows tock, follows tick, follows tock. Not everything in black and white makes sense, but I'm sure that the mall kids are going to love it. Ka-ching!
