Real chili doesn't have beans, and is comprised mostly of meat and chile peppers, with some onion and garlic and usually some tomato-type ingredients (some will argue that tomatoes don't belong in chili either) and other custom touches. Ask any Texan.

Folks in the South and Midwest like to add beans. Helps to keep their beds warm at night or scare away bugs, I guess.

Then there's the Cincy-style at Skyline...
