OneMethod’s SweetSixteen: The Year of Evolution redesign

Toronto, June 7, 2017 – OneMethod turns sixteen this year and to celebrate sweetly, the Toronto-based digital and design agency is evolving with a new look, a new space, and a new approach to collaboration.

New Look:
The new branding system is based on the idea of pulling things apart and putting them back together again, which is symbolic for the agency and the people who work in it: a group of individuals who mash together to create a whole. “It quickly became obvious this system would inform everything about the brand,” OneMethod Founder, Amin Todai said. “Combined, the shapes form the logo and pulled apart, can form different patterns and settings.”

New Space:
From humble roots in a Mississauga condo to the heart of downtown Toronto, OneMethod’s new office has evolved into a creator’s heaven. Smashed into the former storage space of the CBC building where the Mr. Dress-Up set once lived, this new home is both sprawling and incredibly intimate at the same time. The space adorned with original art plays host to studios, a basketball court, and a sleek and modern bar/ lounge.

New Collateral:
The office basketball court comes with matching, custom OneMethod basketballs. Keeping it custom, new notebooks contain a 50-page hand-illustrated LabManual to introduce the brand culture and studio space.

New Business Cards:
New business cards come with an innovative approach: every company card combines like a puzzle to make one cohesive piece. With a limited number of cards available, each employee is given only five cards to hand out to sponge-worthy individuals.

The MethLab:
The OneMethod Lab, affectionately known as the MethLab, was born out of a desire to cook up innovation – from restaurants to clothing companies. A spin on the OneMethod name and the creative heart of the company, it boasts a Workspace that doubles as a bar/lounge and a Showroom that operates as a public-serving concept store.

The Showroom:
Inside the MethLab, the ever-changing concept store sells ONEMETH Goods and Faded Lifestyle (the agency’s clothing lines), Converse shoes, Stance socks and Krink markers with plans to grow the list of brands. On demand, the space can be adapted to fit a limitless number of activations for OneMethod, its sister companies Bensimon Byne and Narrative, as well as collaborators and clients.

The MethLab Collect1ve:
Made up of an ever-expanding crew of creators, the MethLab Collect1ve is an experiment in collaboration where outside people can apply to join. Once approved, members must donate a week of their creative services in return for full access to the MethLab Showroom and Workspace and the use of an employee’s creative talents. Members will also be required to provide annual talks/workshops.

The Sweet Mixteen:
The birthday mixtape: inspired by the larger rebrand theme, it’s a combination of all sorts of different songs that blend together into one cohesive record. It was mixed by local DJ Death Cohen, designed in-house, and pressed locally. As part of the broader rebranding exercise, physical copies were mixed on vinyl but it can also be streamed online:
