The Restaurant - Rocco DiSpirito / NBC (2003) ::30 (USA)

NBC aired its reality TV show about the inner workings of a new restaurant yesterday. It stars celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito and his co-stars are Coors Light and American Express Business Card. Superadgrunts, click read more to view the show's opening theme/commercials.

I wonder if Jamie Oliver's reality TV show/restaurant - Fifteen also had product placement up the wazoo?

Nice catch Robblink - thankyou, I was curious to how this would turn out. Is the show any good? :)

I actually kind of like it. Its fun to watch someone trying to create a work of beauty, but he has to compromise to people who have money but no sense of aesthetics. Hmmm....kind of reminds me of my job.....

I don't think any of the those reality TV shows of restaurant openings (Oliver's and Morimoto from NYC) had any major product placement in the show. I don't remember seeing anything or picking up on it.
I saw a spot this AM that I think was for American Express Business Card, using the show clips and such in the ad. It's not a bad idea, and it at least makes some sort of sense.

In general, I don't think product placements are bad. They're everywhere in TV shows and movies now. However, I draw the line when I see the products in the opening credits. They also did a poor job integrating the products in the show. It was just so blatant.
