The opening shot shows how Shirley suddenly has a bright idea. What could it be?
This is how the story begins, we are brought to the world of Shirley and Fatima, her obvious best friend at an international school in Dubai. They joke, play, and occasionally get in trouble together. Both young actresses depict friendship very well.
As Shirley is about to leave, her friend Fatima reminds her that she has forgotten something. Her lunchbox. And in it, is an unexpected gift for Fatima.
Hanzo Films exaplain ;
"Fatima and Shirley explore themes of empathy and tolerance, the central tenets of Ramadan, from the point of view of two young friends, who despite their backgrounds, find common ground every day. It’s a heartwarming, beautifully lensed day-in-the-life-film for the global market featuring authentic performances by two wonderful young actors, who bring each moment to life. "
